For the upcoming #DVPit, here’s an #agentsguide for SATURNINE, my #A #F about a student who makes a deal with a necromancer to raise her professor from the dead🖤 🎓Dark Academia ⛪️Southern Gothic 🚜 Dropout, outsider MC 🐍Snake familiar 🫀Twisty romance 🌙Unique magic system #amquerying #agentguide #R

A dark and moody background with a stone arched gate, tree branches, and Spanish moss. An emblem of two white snakes. The text:
SATURNINE
An adult dark academia fantasy
97,000 words

A dark background of a snake marble sculpture. The text over it:
Pitch
Harper Claire’s dreams of an academic career died with her trusted mentor. When the faculty dismisses the blatantly ritualistic scene as an accident, she drops out of Occult Mor University, vowing to prove it was murder.
Her best chance is Rich, a washed-up grifter claiming he can raise the dead for a single day—except his rare magic has been sealed by a sigil carved into his flesh. Harper offers him a deal: if she lifts the sigil, he’ll bring her mentor back. But as they sneak across Mor’s waterlogged grounds and their attraction deepens, Harper fears the sigil holds back more than he admits. Some powers are too devastating to ever be unleashed, and Harper’s debt to her dead mentor might cost her a lot more than a broken heart.

Dark background of a vaulted classical ceiling. The title says: For fans of.
Four book covers: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo with a note: Gritty, modern tone, morally messy heroine,
YEARNING.
An academy for liars by Alexis Henderson with a note: Institutional corruption.
Katabasis by R. F. Kuang with a note: Underworld descent.
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow with a note: Small-town, Southern Gothic atmosphere, bittersweet love
story

A collage of images: a silhouette of a woman with a short messy bob. A man with a muscular back. A statue of Cupid and Psyche. A road sign that says GATES TO HELL not a public road. A facade of a red brick, collegiate style building. A woman in short black skirt and lacy bustier lying on a bed with a notebook and headphones. The text layered over says:

Forced proximity
He falls first
Touch him and die
Working class, outsider MC One of a kind magic system
A snake familiar

Quotes from the book:

Disco slept in her bed sometimes, curled in the crook of her shoulder, snout tucked
against her neck. He prayed she would never learn the true purpose of the snake.

She just watched him, silently and intensely, in her signature deep dissatisfied , as if
she saw his heart, liver, and lungs, bleeding and throbbing, where she wanted him to be full of magic instead.

A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

#DVParty If PROJECT HERETIC was a meme/GIF... In a magical patriarchal society where teens must ritually sacrifice their mothers for power, a young female Conjurer must win her mother's approval by becoming a top student at Draíocht Academy…but the price for admittance is steep.

#DVParty RAPTURE OF THE DEEP where divers explore the icy waters of Europa and don't know what they might find... with @noah-oliver.bsky.social (who also made this lovely moodboard--pictures from unsplash, definition from Wiktionary).

A nine-panel moodboard that depicts a hole in ice leading to the ocean. A lone scuba diver swimming away. A jellyfish. The jaws of a fish with sharp teeth. The definition of thalassophobia (Thalassophobia (n.) 1. a morbid fear of the sea). A dead fish with its jaw wide. A macro image of jellyfish tentacles. The wreck of a boat in the water looming in the distance. A deep crevasse in ice with a bit of snow falling into it. The images are all dark blues and greens, evoking a sense of dread.

My #DVparty mood board! Forst time really making one, trying to blend the San Francisco vibes with contemporary fantasy, Chinese influence and the smidge of horror. Oh, and TW for a big snake. For moodboard and novel I’m pitching lol.

Mood board features many chinese influences, something that’s supposed to be a ghost, San Francisco and a snake.
