On 2 July, Lobga Rangzen self-immolated in front of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, calling for the freedom and independence of Tibet. His final words to us were not of grief but of resolution: to continue the struggle he gave everything for.

Happy 91st Birthday to Your Holiness the Dalai Lama! 🎉 From all of us at Tibet Network, we send our deepest love & gratitude to you. May your wisdom continue to inspire generations and your vision for a free and peaceful Tibet shine ever brighter.

171 Tibetans have now self-immolated in protest against China's repression of Tibet. Lobga Rangzen's death outside the UN Headquarters was a call to action. In his final message, he urged Tibetans living in freedom to use their voices for those inside Tibet who cannot.

The death of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen is a tragic reminder of the devastating human cost of China's policies in occupied Tibet. As Beijing intensifies assault on Tibetan identity through the implementation of the new Ethnic Unity Law, the international community cannot remain silent.

Breaking: UN High commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, raised concerns about China’s Ethnic Unity Law, calling for a repeal in his statement at the ongoing Human Rights Council session on 15 June. This is a massive victory for Tibet and ally campaigners but the work is far from done.

China’s new “Ethnic Unity” law paves the way for cultural erasure through institutionalised indoctrination. By disrupting the intergenerational transmission of Tibetan language, history, tradition, and culture, the law seeks to sever future generations from their identity and heritage.

What happens in London won’t stay in London. It will be discussed and dissected in Beijing! That is what will happen, if UK lets China build their largest embassy in Europe, 10 times the size of a regular embassy, in the heart of London.

Major success! On Human Rights Day, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to religious freedom and clearly rejected China’s interference in the selection of Tibetan Buddhist leaders, including the future Dalai Lama.

Ahead of Human Rights Day, we delivered a joint message to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights: Your silence is costing Tibetan children their culture, their language, and their childhood.

While the world celebrated the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama this July, Tibetans inside Tibet faced brutal repression- owning a photo, singing in his honour, or organising a simple prayer can lead to arrest, torture, or disappearance under Chinese occupation
