I've found that some #MSX games, mainly Spanish from #Erbe, have a code that looks in memory for a code to add #pokes! They look at memory location 56000 for the signature 201, 201, 201. Then it follows the number of pokes, and finally the pokes themselves (3 bytes each).

When you load in #MSX the tapes of Rally-X or Galaga, it makes a weird sound. I looked at the code, and it turns out it's using the PPI for that (not the PSG). It reads the byte from the cassette, and uses bit 6 to toggle the caps led and bit 7 to make the sounds with the PPI.

I'm going back home after a nice weekend in Hoznayo (Cantabria), where I attended the MSX RUN. It's always great to meet friends. I gave a talk in Spanish about numerical calculations with the Z80 and MSX BASIC. More math than MSX... but people were snoring, which means they couldn't dislike it!
