The 3rd retreat of TIDE #ReserachTrainingGroup with the second cohort of #PhDstudents took place in Bad-Honnef. We spent three days sharing ideas and learning from each other through talks and poster sessions. We also enjoyed plenty of coffee breaks and had a great time on a fun excursion. #PhDLife
To support and empower our female PhD students, TIDE organizes the Women at Science event. This week, three #FemaleRoleModels shared insights into their career journeys during relaxed small-group discussions, giving students the chance to ask questions and connect. #WomenInScience #PhDLife
TIDE’s #SpringSchool for the 2nd cohort took place this month with partners in Bayreuth and Erlangen. Through poster sessions and talks, students exchanged ideas, built connections, and strengthened their networks. #PhDLife #Research
Some of the TIDE members attended the #MRSFallMeeting in Boston, where they presented their latest research results and exchanged ideas with fellow scientists. The conference offered a valuable platform for scientific discussion and networking. An inspiring and rewarding experience! #ResearchLife
From July-October, Benedikt completed a research residency at @UofT with @Prof. Alán Aspuru-Guzik, insights into the structure and operation of #selfdrivinglaboratories, #QuantumComputing algorithms, and advanced #MachineLearning approaches in #ComputationalChemistry. #phdlife #ResearchStay
The TIDE #PhDstudents came together this week for their 2nd #ResearchRetreat in Königswinter! The whole group enjoyed scientific poster and oral sessions, lively discussions, plus a refreshing hike up to the #Drachenfels, where science meets nature to build connections. #PhDLife #ScientificCommunity
As part of our Lecture Series Week, we were delighted to welcome guest speaker Prof. Adam Moulé from @ucdavis.bsky.social, who delivered an engaging lecture on #organicelectronic materials to the TIDE fellows. The evening concluded with a relaxed and enjoyable group dinner.
Some of our TIDE members took part in the stage 16 of cycling #TourDeFrance– #MontVentoux July 2025, and rode up the famous Mont Ventoux. It was a tough climb and an amazing experience! #MontVentoux #Cycling #Researcher
Soyoung attended #ICOE2025 in Coimbra, Portugal and presented her poster on microcavity #OLEDs and took part in discussions on organic electronics. She connected with researchers and students from across Europe, truly an inspiring experience! #organicelectronics #solarcells #research #science
Hanan presented her poster “Encapsulation of Graphene Nanoribbons in Hexagonal #BoronNitride using Dry-transfer Method” at Graphene Conference 2025 in San Sebastian. She attended various scientific sessions and found the experience valuable for both knowledge exchange and networking. #phd #physics
Prof. Marek Nowicki (University of Wrocław) and Prof. Hans-Achim Wagenknecht (kit.edu) gave talks on Electrochemical Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Nucleic Acid Chemistry with Light, respectively. Each event was followed by a dinner with the team.@chemunicologne.bsky.social @unibonn.bsky.social
Fantastic news: @dfg.de has just approved the second funding period for our research training group TIDE! We are honored and very happily looking forward to further 4.5 years of collaborative PhD journeys at @unicologne.bsky.social and @unibonn.bsky.social! Further info: uni-koeln.de/en/universit...
Prof. Maxim Pshenitchnikov from @zernike-institute.bsky.social gave an inspiring tutorial and a talk on capturing #supramolecular #self-assembly in real time for the TIDE group. We are greatful for the insight and the company at a nice dinner with the team. #nanostructure #femtosecond #research
To promote our female #PhDstudents, TIDE has a Woman@Science program. At our last event, three female scientists presented their different career paths, followed by discussions in small groups which provided the opportunity to network and ask questions. #WomanInScience #womeninSTEM #RoleModel
Philipp defended his #PhDthesis on "Uniaxial Alignment of #OrganicSemiconductors by Armchair #Graphene #Nanoribbon Templating". As you can see from the traditional hat self-made by his research group, he was successful. Congratulations! #ProudPI #PhDone
New research article by the groups of Prof. Meerholz and Prof. Lindfors published in Organic Chemistry Frontiers ( #OpenAccess). Congratulations! #organic #electronics #optics #research
Influencing optical and charge transport properties by controlling the molecular interactions of merocyanine thin films
In amorphous organic semiconductors, charge transport typically takes place via slow hopping processes, but it is known that molecular aggregation can lead to enhanced exciton and charge transport thr...
