Jorge Polanco, who took about 300 swings pregame according to Andy Green, laces a homer to right off Tanner Bibee, part of back-to-back blasts with Brett Baty. Polanco had been hitless in his prior 26 at-bats. It's 2-0.
Kodai Senga would like to be a starter, but he knows he doesn't have much to back him up: "The team could tell me, 'Just look at your stats,' and I don't have anything to say back to them."

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to pitch in situations like that. At the same time, I made sure to tell the team that I signed as a starter and starting is something I would like to do. But I also understand my results and my stats don’t show that I necessarily deserve a starting rotation spot. Whatever position I'm put in, whatever role I'm given, I'm happy to do and will continue to do the best I can.

NYM 6 CLE 2 Final Luis Torrens, Bo Bichette and Carson Benge homered. Sean Manaea was good. Nate Lavender and Kodai Senga locked it down late. The Mets are 48-66.
Lavender caught Bazzana looking to end the seventh, then worked a scoreless eighth capped by a 5-4-3 double play. A very nice debut.

Andy Green on Kodai Senga: “I really want to see him as a leverage reliever in a one-inning burst.” Said the prior bullpen alignment made that difficult because they needed Senga for length. Now they can audition him in that role.
Mets made these moves official. Bryce Conley was DFA'd, Joey Gerber released, Kevin Herget and MJ Melendez outrighted to Triple A.

As you’d expect, Jefferson Rojas will go to Double-A Binghamton and Sammy Stafura to High-A Brooklyn for the Mets.
