We're still so touched to float with amazing apps during the WWDC Keynote, and to be in the Platform State of the Union and the visionOS 27 Session. Yay CellWalk!! Thank you to the kind people at Apple and to the whole developer community for the best WWDC yet.

WIP: Trying to do something more interesting with the disordered regions of synaptophysin (green) in the syp-vamp2 complex of this synaptic vesicle. I have this bug at the moment, a little nightmarish, but cool looking. Flailing tentacles...

WIP: modelled the synaptophysin-VAMP2 complex for our synaptic vesicle. This complex is involved in vesicle fusion. SYP forms a hexamer with 12 copies of VAMP2, a key part of the fusion machinery.

WIP: Updated CellWalk's editor for macOS. I love how liquid glass adapts to the scene's colour palette. We're looking at an HIV model the folks at Scripps Research (this is just our dev tool)

I just updated CellWalk for the M5 Apple Vision Pro! This app really pushes the GPU (entire cells with billions of atoms) and it's a great way to test the M5. CellWalk on M5 increases resolution and detail 1.5x over M2! Huge. It's super sharp and detailed. Apple Intelligence is also way faster.

I quietly released new features for Apple Vision Pro in the last update: Widgets and on-device AI explanations powered by Apple Intelligence. I don't have an M5 yet, has anyone tried CellWalk on the M5 Apple Vision Pro?! How is it? more resolution (it should get more by default)?!

CellWalk is featured in Apple's new article on Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models. It's a really fun new way to learn about concepts and terms in the app, and I really enjoyed building it.

🦠 NEW VIDEO 🦠 The molecular biology of how Mycobacterium Tuberculosis evades the immune system so well. Starting with this simulation of a full outer envelope of m.TB--let's explore how the deadliest & most persistent human pathogen completely hacks our immune response. #molecularbiology

I need to store a fair amount of data alongside my Git repository hosted on GitHub. I've been pricing things out: GitHub LFS: $70/TB LFS Cloudflare R2 + Webworker proxy: $15/TB LFS Backblaze B2 + Cloudflare Webwork: $6/TB I went with Cloudflare R2 for Git LFS and GitHub for the repo!

OpenAI’s new GPT-4o image generator is kind of mind-blowing, especially compared to what was state-of-the-art just days ago. Someone had to try the Ghibli trend on some crazy biology visuals, right? Here's my beloved whole cell model in Studio Ghibli, graffiti, cubism, abstract, and pop art style ✨

I was honoured to guest lecture on visionOS development and CellWalk at the University of Calgary’s iOS Programming Course. Also got to check out some promising student projects—definitely some Y Combinator potential in the mix!

Holy smokes, this is a really good animation. The side-by-side presentation gives a really good picture of what's happening locally and globally. I just watched this 15 times. Wow @margotriggi.bsky.social and the @briggsgroup.bsky.social

Mature #HIV-1 contains >2000 copies of “spacer peptide 2”, but we didn’t know why. We now see that SP2 binds the matrix protein and triggers the change into its mature arrangement. Summary video from @margotriggi.bsky.social
