living in mount pleasant i had the raven (and marx & haydee's). adams morgan had asylum. carver langston had jimmy valentines. navy yard has... i haven't found a smallish chill place with basic drinks. i like dacha, trouble bird, and walters. but no super old school places w/in walking distance.🥲

hoo boy this did not age well! after the state dedicated half a billion dollars to improve this track & buy its ip, horse racing establishment essentially killed the triple crown by creating a new tournament that excludes pimlico. huge bait & switch leaving maryland to hold a v large, empty bag.

surely gambling will sustain a baseline, but overall i feel like horse racing is dead or dying as a wide-appeal popular interest sport. www.thebanner.com/sports/horse...

a few weeks ago, the fast casual indian restaurant rasa closed in navy yard. i peeked into an open door earlier today and the space has been stripped down to the studs in preparation for converting it into panda express, a large chain (2,600 ww locations) featuring american chinese food.

Photo of a storefront with an empty imprint of the word "RASA" in large missing letters above a still existing line of text reading "Indian bowls, plates & burritos." The windows reflect an urban setting with cars, mutli-storey buildings and blue skies.

while the new long bridge will be a huge boost for rail traffic in and out of dc, the transit project i'm most excited about is in maryland. it's the purple line. kudos to their comms department for making updates so visible.

Modern purple and white light rail train traveling on curved tracks with yellow flowers in the foreground under a clear blue sky.

they should run the 250 indy race on the beltway. it's already set up for driving really fast. plus it has a lot of mostly straight parts. do one big lap around, open that puppy back up. done. minimal to no impact in dc.

wow, burrito brothers closed on capitol hill. i went there in high school! what a loss. really hoping they are able to open elsewhere in dc. but this was always my favorite location!😔

so sad to see dos gringos depart in mount pleasant, but looks like there's a new shop in that location. a sandwich place. anyone been? need to visit my old neighborhood soon.🥲
