Polar molecules feature much stronger dipole moments than magnetic atoms—but what frontiers can we realistically explore with molecular Bose-Einstein condensates? 👉 arxiv.org/abs/2512.14511 We review this open question and the exciting possibilities in the field, from few- to many-body physics ...
How can molecules help us peek inside the nucleus? 🔬 For years, it has been known that molecules can serve as extraordinarily sensitive probes of fundamental physics. Following the remarkable progress in molecular searches for the electron's electric dipole moment (eEDM), ...
How much does the shape of dipolar interactions matter? ✨ New preprint! Using large-scale quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we show that the angular structure of microwave-induced interactions in polar #molecules reshapes the many-body phase diagram, not just the overall interaction strength!
A great start to an exciting new research adventure! Last week, we officially launched QNNECT, our new Austrian Science Fund FWF-funded Special Research Area (SFB), with a kickoff event at @tuwien.at

Notably, this makes it a double-double of 🇪🇺 #ERC grants for the Atominstitut this year — 🏅Andreas Schindewolf and 🏅Uroš Delić received an #ERCStG, while 🏅Philipp Haslinger and 🏅I received an #ERCCoG — and a double-triple for the #Physics Department at @tuwien.at
Was für ein Erfolg! Gleich drei ERC Consolidator Grants gehen an die TU Wien. Wir freuen uns und gratulieren den Preisträgern! 🥳 Mehr dazu: www.tuwien.at/tu-wien/aktu...
Freude, schöner Götterfunken! 🇪🇺 I’m thrilled to share that my research group will soon be supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant from the @ERC — my third ERC grant! 🎉 In this project, we will be working towards precision measurements of parity violation using cold #molecules.
In June, I participated in an exciting workshop on #Ultracold Molecules, organized by @michaltomza.bsky.social and Simon Cornish at the University of Warsaw. The recordings of the talks are now available on the Youtube channel of the Centre for AMO Physics (🔗 www.youtube.com/@CAMOP_UW/vi...).
Glad to share the news of our newly funded Special Research Area (SFB) of the @fwf-at.bsky.social. QNNECT will be a collaborative project on neutral-atom hashtag#quantum systems with high connectivity — spanning Rydberg atoms, atoms in cavities, magnetic atoms, and polar molecules.

A new PhD graduate from the Cold Molecules group! Huge congratulations to Felix Kogel for successfully defending his PhD with the highest distinction! Felix's doctoral hat includes an interactive replica of the #lasercooling experiment for new types of #precisionmeasurements described in his thesis!
Fantastic workshop on Ultracold Molecules at Warsaw University, organized by Simon Cornish and @michaltomza.bsky.social! Greatly enjoyed joining as a speaker and panelist - amazing talks & discussions, and a real sense that #molecules are one of the most exciting areas of quantum science today!
My timelines are usually filled with pictures of either #quantum physics or mountains. What a unique opportunity to combine them both! Approaching @apsphysics.bsky.social's #DAMOP2025 meeting in Portland, flying in right over the crater rim of Mt. St. Helens, with Mt. Adams in the background.
Barium charge radii in molecules do the (odd-even) twist: High-resolution spectroscopy of barium monofluoride that benchmarks theory, reveals nuclear properties and prepares the molecules for more efficient laser cooling along the way.
I recently had the honor of delivering my official inaugural lecture as a professor at @tuwien.at. It was a fantastic opportunity to share my group’s research in #quantum science and technology and connect with colleagues, students, and friends. I'm excited for what lies ahead!
New crystal morphologies for #dipolar quantum matter Dipolar atoms and molecules naturally self-assemble into droplet crystals, but did you know these #droplets can further transition into flawless monolayer crystals when interactions become strong enough? See here: arxiv.org/abs/2504.02682
