We're home now after a glorious week of walking and relaxing in #Clun in #Shropshire, so here's my #ink and #watercolour depiction of the house that our wonderful AirBnb accommodation was part of. As is now tradition, I left the original picture behind as a thank you to the (super-friendly) owners.

Yesterday evening I ran the #ClunCarnival Canter, a 5.6 mile trail run through some stunning sun-drenched #Shropshire countryside. It's often over-used to describe hard runs, but I think the word 'brutal' is a fair description of the first ~1.5 miles of the route in this case!

We did a fabulous walk today from #LittleStretton, #Shropshire, up Ashes Hollow to the top of the #LongMynd, #PoleBank, then back between two wonderfully named hills, Grindle and Callow. The views were amazing and the hillsides a riot of colour that I've tried to capture in this little #watercolour.

This afternoon I had a go at painting a postcard-sized, naive art, scene showing boats and a village quayside. This was inspired by a painting on the wall of an Italian restaurant we visited yesterday (artist credit: Janet Davies). It was surprisingly difficult to get the look I was aiming for.

This morning I've painted this small, #ACEO format, ink and watercolour landscape of the view looking southwest to #WhealCoates tin mine between #Porthtowan and #StAgnes in #Cornwall. It was fun to do. I think I will do some more pictures in this 'portrait' format.

Here are all four of my recent pencil drawings of #birds. It's a rather random selection - #avocet, #kestrel #greattit and #mallard. I think my drawing and colouring has generally improved as I have gone along.

I'm not sure why I decided to take on such a complex picture for today's #art practice: a #drawing of a #mallard in flight - the 4th in my series of pencil-drawn birds, but I'm quite surprised at how well it's turned out. Patience is the key with these drawings, so they are a good test for me!

For this morning's #art practice I've had another go at a #pencil #drawing of a bird with this picture of a #GreatTit. I thought it was going to turn out a bit rubbish as I was drawing it, but it seems to have come together okay in the end!

Today's #art practice is a second postcard-sized #ink and #watercolour painting from a photo taken on our trip to #Norfolk in April. This one is from a walk we did at #RanworthBroad. I'm pleased with the water and the wooden posts. I think I'm quite good at doing wooden posts!

My go-to #art practice at the moment seems to be the #ink and #watercolour postcard capturing an 'ordinary' view... but when is a view of a landscape ever really ordinary...?! Today's is based on a photo taken in April while staying in #Norfolk, a view from a walk at #RocklandStMary near Norwich...

Yesterday's avocet seemed to go down well, so I've stayed with the #bird theme today for another play with #charcoal + #watercolour pencils and this picture of a #kestrel. It's interesting exploring different media. This one required lots of #patience - not normally something I have in large supply!

This morning I had an urge to try something different in my #art practice and for reason unknown, drawing an #avocet with a #charcoal pencil came to mind. Then a coloured #pencil background got involved! (I'm not entirely sure it's a positive addition). This was #fun to do and a fresh challenge.
