I am not a doctor.

I wouldn't have anything to give up. I don't use AI. I would gain by losing all the useless AI features that have been stuck into the apps I use, which I either ignore, turn off, delete or switch platforms to avoid. #AI #noAI

All the people who are anti-Al or want to slow Al progress, I have one question:
If Al disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday without ChatGPT, Claude, or any other
Al tool?
Imagine Al was suddenly banned.
Would you actually be willing to give it up?

I cannot rest from discourse. I will see that film again tomorrow. I will drink life to the lees. Again I will enjoy greatly, will suffer greatly, both with those that love me, and in Pleasantville NY. I am become a meme. Film showing: burnsfilmcenter.org/booking/the-...

The oldest book in my personal library was published in 1855. 191 years old. I’ve had it for about 30 of those years. Some of “my” books I’ve had for 50+ years. I hope to pass them on to those who will read, care, keep and pass them on in their turn. I want to shred those who would shred them.

Read that headline about AI companies buying, scanning, and destroying old, rare books and you still got absolute toolbags standing ten toes down on this shit. Some of you the same people who would shit a brick if a Republican Congressman suggested a book burning.

Being mortal creatures with limited time and energy, it is totally natural that human outrage is selective. If you tried to do work on every injustice and horror on this earth, you would collapse into an exhausted ball of trauma it is absolutely fine for you to select a cause that is yours

It's a completely ridiculous demand, that Democrats force the GOP to remove McConnell so they can gain a vote in the Senate. Why the hell would we want that? The only accounts promoting it are bots and people who are so stupid they're effectively about as conscious as bots.

Mitch McConnell isn't dead, but he is dying, and the best possible situation for Democrats is the one we have now, where he's too sick to leave the hospital but too stubborn to resign, and you should be extremely suspicious of people demanding Democrats rescue the GOP from this situation.

The kerfuffle over Nolan's Odyssey motivated me to dust off Fagle's translation, which I bought in 1998; now rereading. Yesterday I bought Wilson's version, and Emily Hauser's Penelope's Bones, largely because of Wilson's witty response to Nolan (plus her tattoos, I confess).

Omg. Omg omg omg. Emily Wilson (as in, the famed translator of Homer) just published her take on Nolan's Odyssey in @lrb.co.uk... and it is SWEET, JUICY HATERADE: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

As they say at the awards shows, I was humbled to learn that Nolan has read at least the first line of my translation of The Odyssey into iambic pentameter. In at least one interview, he cited my version of the first line of the poem: ‘Tell me about a complicated man.’ But I would be ashamed to have written any part of this script
