Magic, gods, libraries, witchcraft, and West African folklore: you can talk about all this and more in a one-on-one with modern legend and award-winning author Tobi Ogundiran. Not a zoom to be missed! Donate at https://twp.ai/9Pc8ar or through our bio!

In fact, I think I’ll ask my patrons what they think about doing a two book read in March. They really enjoyed reading and talking about Jackal Jackal by @tobiogundiran.com . Also this would suit my “read more short fic” agenda.

Commodified fantasy takes no risks: it invents nothing, but imitates and trivializes. It proceeds by depriving the old stories of their intellectual and ethical complexity, turning their truth-telling to sentimental platitude.

In 2021 a little story I wrote (“Isn’t Your Daughter Such a Doll”) was shortlisted for the Shirley Jackson awards and I got a little finalist pebble all the way in Nigeria. In the move to America I lost it…or thought I did. I asked my family to go through my old room with a fine toothed — 1/2
