another thing. about having a cat. they hear a few minutes of keyboard clickitty clack. and they come over and demand your lap. because they know you aren't moving for a while. but you can't write with a monocle of cat butt bobbing in front of your eyes. maybe i should give up writing.

I love the things that are better because of other things. The post-mow beer. The stove lamp on and you’re the last one up. The bad day cured bc you saw a kid in the park practicing his jump shot. The house emptied but then you smell your wife’s shampoo on her pillow. Etc.

poetry is hard because one moment you'll think you need a specific phrase to fill a prosodic move across a stanza and the next you'll wonder if you've internalized too deeply the rule of three re: images in poems

had a dream last night my cat got out of the house and ran into my neighbor's house who, for some reason, had a pet bear, and when I chased my cat trying to get her out of his house I said sorry and he said "I have a bear"
