Sorry to get so partisan, but that's how I feel.
Like I was already moving from kinda center-right to vaguely lib coded during the obama years but the first trump admin moved me heavily in the direction of left-liberal.

The Bible is essentially de-sexualizing an older story about the sky god mating with the sea goddess to create the world.
On one hand I love this, on the other every digitized book from them that I've tried to read has been essentially illegible.

Unclear what happened here but the implication I get from the article is that they’d fallen into deep debt and maybe owed money to some very bad people. And once they’d been deported, paying that money back was probably very very hard.
I think it's also that Rome 'fell' multiple times over it's history, it's just the last time it decided not to get back up.

Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.
