Emote 5.0 has officially been released. It's quite a big upgrade and modernization. It had been about 4 years since I'd last worked on Emote in anger, so this was a long time coming! Release notes: github.com/tom-james-wa...

For anyone who's using Emote (my emoji picker for linux) - this weekend is the last chance to help beta test a huge new version I've been working on! github.com/tom-james-wa...
Good news - you can browse old reddit while logged out again! I found a way with the latest version of Old Reddit Redirect to have www.reddit.com serve old reddit, even when not logged in.
Reddit has decided to kill one of the main uses cases for Old Reddit Redirect - you now need to be logged in to use Old Reddit. I'm not sure this is the final nail in the coffin for Old Reddit, but it's certainly a pretty damn big one. github.com/tom-james-wa...

Gemini on Android gives you the ability to turn off "Gemini App Activity", but doing so means that super basic functionality like "turn the volume up" doesn't work. So, you can basically choose between having all your snippets be listened to by Google employees, or it not working at all 😕.
I have a couple of published extensions and every week I get multiple messages like this. Knowing how common extension takeovers are is exactly why I don't trust anything other than ublock, a password manager, and my own extensions. It's a mess and a huge unsolved problem.
Domains as handles for verification just might be the best thing about Bluesky. Much better idea than just having "clout badges".
Wow, I hadn't realised just how open Bluesky is. I'm going to need to spend some time messing around with the protocol. So many possibilities!
By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins. emilyliu.me/blog/comments
