Ah, Larry Berg gets the promotion/relegation question. He invokes his experience investing in European leagues. "I can understand the appeal for the fan. ... I don't think it's appropriate for our league. Don has said never say never, but I don't see it any time soon."
I repost this mostly so I can point out that this picture of Larry Berg is at the LA County Museum of Art, in front of an installation called "Urban Light."

And it's official: Larry Berg is the next commissioner of MLS. Don Garber will be commissioner through end of 2026, Berg takes over on Jan. 1, 2027. Garber will then become Chairman of MLS.
