Hey Seattle Urbanists, I have a St. Louis friend who is planning to move out to Seattle next summer and he’s beginning to look at prospective employers. He’s worked as a planner and program manager for both governments and non profits focusing on improving access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Grand Street Commons will see its first retail bay open to customers on August 31st when Club Pilates starts classes.

King County Assessor lowered my rowhome’s appraised value by ~10% this year after increases the previous two years.
Through much of human history, cities were forced to remain compact because of threats of outside attacks. That was seemingly solved for a few centuries. But I think with climate change we’re going to see a need to compact the urban footprint again. Wildfires present a real danger.
These statements from Seattle City Council are shameful. And for Seattle Times to write so one-sidedly gives their game away.

They've gone from providing independent reporting and analysis to using their perches for a partisan agenda.
The political double standard from U.S. media that Mayor Wilson can delay a press conference and face a week+ of severe backlash questioning her competency while Trump actively blames a U.S. state for civic infrastructure cyberattacks and it’ll be old news in 8 hours… it’ll make your head spin.

The amount of taxes we pay to the feds compared to what we get in return is outrageous. This needs much more attention, including from our businesses. The reason we keep increasing local taxes (the only ones we can keep 100%) is because so much of our state & fed taxes are going elsewhere.

My wife is in an overseas destination wedding next Spring to a location that does not have direct flights from Seattle (where 90% of the people are coming from). On top of that, the couple already had a shotgun wedding in Vegas that *most* of the same people already attended… I have thoughts.

This is disappointing when, as was mentioned, we already have millions in un-programmed funds available for transit safety. This takes away service hours from riders.

I’m happy that Jordan Walker figured it out at the plate and is having a great season. An insanely talented ballplayer. Felt like the Cardinals nearly broke him in his first couple seasons.
Why is the Parks Foundation pushing the idea that more housing in Seattle could threaten the parks? We’ve had it in ordinance for ~30 years now that Seattle Park land can’t be sold off.
