Not a sign of a runner bean ‘tho the flowers come & go! Just found out the whole beanstalk, leaves, flowers & roots are edible! Runner Bean FlowersTaste: They have a crisp texture and a mild, sweet, bean-like flavor. Young Leaves: Fresh, young leaves are tender and can be eaten raw in salads.
Despite having a huge healthy beanstalk, a good scattering of flowers, & it being well watered morning & evening I have had one runner bean & no signs of any to come! I’ve heard similar stories from friends- has anyone else had a good crop?
Huge disappointing mixed salad, - I’m all saladed out but can’t bear to waste food so it’ll be stir fry tomorrow!! Sitting outside as it’s a nice evening with a breeze but the opportunist seagulls are flying around!
My poor little olive tree has at long last been repotted & is decked in solar lights to celebrate!
Getting there! I have a working oven…….but it’s too hot to cook! Electrics mainly sorted! Still got extractor fan, gas hob & kick board to go!
Stress!! - knew it wouldn’t be a simple new oven! Aaagh sorting out the wiring is a nightmare, I knew it would be!
Duckweed patches are starting to get a grip on the pond- fished a pile out. On reading I thought I’d found a solution & offered Boris the tortoise some. He sniffed it & walked away.
Just chopped some runner beans (from Mr Sainsbury’s as mine are very lacking..) using my brand new white bean slicer. The yellowing one was my Nan’s and the last few years I’ve had to resort to using a knife - I just presumed beans were getting stringier! #smallpleasures

Just rescued a huge bumble bee who couldn’t get out of a plant container- might’ve been there for a while, tried to give him sugar water but was too agitated Got him out & he staggered around for 5 mins but has flown off poor thing.

Thanks DHL- dumping my heavy. double futon mattress on the door step & not even ringing the doorbell! I managed (with a few breaks) to get it through the house, across the patio and up 2 levels to the summerhouse on my own! Just call me super woman!!
