You know when people say a book is funny and you go and buy it and it just isn't funny and that happens to me so often. BUT - I AM HERE TO SAY THAT THIS BOOK IS FUNNY. And also v good.
Black Bag | The Booker Prizes
A warped campus novel, an investigation into the crisis of masculinity and an off-kilter love story, Black Bag is a firework of a novel: blazingly funny and profoundly humane

Also, tbf, I drank it in a spirit of, oh for fucksake I want a drink, can't be bothered to send it back
Ordered a gin and tonic earlier and I'm pretty sure I was given a tequila and tonic, which is quite weird but I drank it in a spirit of curiosity

Huge love and congratulations to our Blake (Family Stereo) whose debut album is out today! The Thread is released on Bella Union on vinyl and CD and is available everywhere to stream or download. More importantly it's a lovely piece of work and I think you might enjoy it. ❤️

Ben and I did our cinema thing today - same cinema, different films. We did that on one of our first *dates*, some 45 years ago (Southern Comfort, Tess of the D'Urbervilles). Today I did The Invite, he did The Odyssey (and is STILL in there 😬).
In news that will surprise nobody I am really enjoying the new Charli album and the line about shopping at APC made me laugh out loud and feel seen
In the end I was too hot to eat many potatoes but the good news is I now have potatoes in the fridge to fry for my lunch tomorrow I am a genius
I cooked some potatoes give me a medal
Moved a dinner from Sunday to Saturday when it looked like the Eng game was 7pm, I wish FIFA would think of my plans
She got another tattoo! Sweet peas by the brilliant Jasmin Walsh ❤️
Have just spent a few days in a top London recording studio with Ben making some new music. More news as I have it 😍
Having a bone density scan and a tattoo this week if you’re wondering what it’s like being in your 60s
Starting my day sitting in the garden listening to teenage band at school over the road rehearsing for concert later. They are playing Under Pressure at full volume and if you've seen Aftersun you'll understand why I am now a mess.
Went for an early walk while it’s still *cool* hahaha 🔥
Another gorgeous new track out today from Family Stereo, and this time an amazing video too - funny and moving, it's a coming-of-age story in 3 minutes ❤️

One of those days where you apply some makeup then watch it gently slide off your face 🙄
Just finished watching Tip Toe and fuck that's a bit shattering isn't it. Great performances from Alan Cummings and Paul Rhys I thought, but honestly just heartbreakingly bleak 💔
Just finished 3 more shows at the MOTH Club, thanks to all who came, you were amazing. And still we go on! More dates in Oct, Nov, Dec on sale 6pm tomorrow via the DICE app as usual. Hope to see you there, big love ❤️
Sitting in my usual cafe, recovering from last night’s show with a coffee. I don’t sleep well after a gig. Adrenaline, which is so useful in getting you on stage, has nowhere to go afterwards, so you lie in bed with it tugging at your attention. I probably should have just gone on to a club 🙄
Back onstage tonight, tomorrow and the next one. More discombobulation. Bring it on!
After a long break from it (25 years), I had forgotten how the life of a performer is quite discombobulating. Last two nights I was on stage at the Union Chapel, and now tonight I'm in bed and thinking, Why am I not on stage? Body and mind out of sync.
I like this response which, in its formality, seems the equivalent of thanking a veteran for their service
