Amtrak Cascades Bistro Car 7304 on display in the Train Shed Exhibit Hall with the new interpretive panels.

The other side of the Bistro car, the panels continue on, telling the history of Amtrak in the Pacific Northwest.

The panels wrap around the walkway at the far end, ending with a fin car design on the last panel. ;)

A dark-eyed junco is perched just inside the door to the Railway Education Center. The door is propped open below and staff have been trying to direct the bird out, but it kept trying to go out the upper windows instead of the wide open door.

Mice are inevitable nearly anywhere a structure exists. They will always find some comfortable nook to nestle down in. This juvenile deer mouse was evicted by staff and relocated into the woods. Just look at that cute little fuzzy face, not a thought going on in that head! #NRM #WildlifeWednesdays

A Douglas squirrel munching on a seed cone. It is balanced on a thin branch. It is a dark brown with an orange-hued belly. This species is known for being very vocal and yelling/squeaking endlessly at anyone it perceives as a threat or a trespasser, so it is unusual to have one calmly eating a snack with humans standing only a few feet below.

Last Summer, Museum staff put up a trail camera over a weekend to see what wildlife paid us a visit. In such a short time frame, only the elk passed through, but they stuck around for a while! #WildlifeWednesdays #elk #NRM #TrainMuseum #deer #PNW #animals

In the background, a few more members of the herd have just started to cross the tracks. The camera caught this on July 14, 2025 at 7:58am.
