First year of TRANSFORM sampling in Israel is complete! These olive groves are biogeographic hotspots between Mediterranean and desert climates. Sampling here allows us to study species at their ecological niche limits, providing key data on global ecosystem resilience. 🫒🐝📊 #MediterraneanEcology

Stereomicroscope taxonomic ID is a key step: bees and ground beetles are premier bioindicators. The former reflect air quality and pollination, the latter soil health in cherry ecosystems. Monitoring them is vital to measure ecosystem resilience and guide conservation. 🔬🐝🪲🍒 #Science #Agroecology

How we miss sampling! Did you know that in the 1960s, Verona was the top province in Italy for cherry production?🍒 Today, cherry orchards are shrinking (1,300 ha) due to urbanization, vineyards and hill management issues; the system has evolved from mixed crops to specialized, high-density plots.📉🚜

First year of TRANSForm sampling in Italy done!🌞To better understand biodiversity, we tested various techniques: pan and pitfall traps for pollinators and carabids, Audiomoth to study birds, netting for targeted pollinator capture, topsoil cores for chemical-physical analysis, and eDNA extraction.🍒🌳
