My most problematic trait is getting really annoyed at people who talk about a Treasure game while clearly not knowing what Treasure is. Yes, dude. It's weird and quirky and unconventional because it was made by gods. Show some goddamn respect!

By the way, they've been doing this shit for decades. Seems to have kinda evolved from "the X Pak" in early NES days to "the X Game Pak" in late NES days and then eventually it just became "the X game".

They still do, at least Nintendo of America does. If you watch a UK Nintendo Direct you'll see that they just say "game" instead of "the [game] game" like in the US. Which means that they make the narrator record two versions of the same line every time he mentions the name of a Nintendo game.
