Bamboo is remarkably strong for its weight and has been used this way in southern China for generations. The obvious weakness is fire, something the Hong Kong fire brought back into focus. Standing beside this, it is hard not to admire the skill involved. Bamboo, bindings, geometry and experience.

Computer scientist Margaret Hamilton coined the term “software engineer.” She directed the Software Engineering Division at MIT’s Instrumentation Lab & led development of the on-board flight software for NASA’s Apollo Guidance Computer. She was born #OTD in 1936 & turns 90 today! #WomenInSTEM

We saw Romeo and Juliet in the St John’s College Garden Cambridge tonight. (Photos were banned btw) A lovestruck Romeo sang the streets a serenade Laying everybody low with a love song that he made Finds a streetlight, steps out of the shade Says something like, "you and me, babe, how about it?"

Darn it I’ve scraped my hire car in one of those stupid UK pay for underground car parks where the bays are tight and there’s bars and barriers sticking out to catch the unwary drive. Fortunately I paid for extra insurance so the financial hit might not be too bad!

They’ve been gone about 2 weeks now so it’s suspicious.This guy under the car is the bruiser who got all the girls pregnant he’s still around too. It’s 32c outside
