The Fed pays more attention to core inflation, which strips out food -- and particularly energy (hi, Iran!). Even on this measure, inflation remains elevated. And this month's 0.3% rise is higher than most had anticipated.

Latest inflation data just dropped. And... prices are still rising at an uncomfortably high rate. Headline inflation was 3.4% over the past year. This month, prices grew by 0.4%. This is pretty much as expected, but no-one was expecting good news.

⛽️ In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the gasoline situation is getting worse and worse. In St. Petersburg, gasoline availability has dropped from 69% to 21%, and in the region, from 62% to 31%. This is indirect confirmation that the Kirishi Oil Refinery was hit very hard on August 30th.

This is especially a Saudi defeat, but it threatens the oil price worldwide. At the beginning of this year the Iranian regime was pretty much cornered. Now, they hold the Strait of Hormuz and are about to close the noose around the Bab-al Mandab Strait.
