The funniest thing, editing a story you thought was okay, rereading it and realizing that you blew some logic points and under-utilized one of the key characters. I usually edit to make things shorter, but this 4,500-word story just got 1,000 words longer. That's what it needed, I guess.
A book that shaped much of my early love of reading: Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles. Epic and character-driven, with incredible stakes. I should really reread these books soon.
I'm not one of those people that write exclusively for myself. I write in part to be read. I want to tell stories that move people, in the same way that I have been moved by so many writers. One of my earliest influences was Lloyd Alexander. I will never forget reading 'The Book of Three'.
Is Still Corners the most underrated band in the world? I think it might be so.

Well, heck. May as well watch a Star Wars movie in the theatre a few more times, because it's a story, it's from a galaxy far far away, it has warmth, it has magic, it has monsters and music, and it made me laugh and feel like I was a kid again. I ask for no more than that.

Hear me out. I got a new piece coming out in the next edition of Peatsmoke. It'll be available to read online. Seldom do I have a visceral reaction to a publication, but I have one in this instance. This story is mussed up. It's non-traditional. And I'm happy that it exists.
It's rare that I feel the need - or feel like I have the self-permission - to stop writing and not feel bad about it. But I have come to that position after fifteen thousand words written in a day and a half. I'm not bragging. I'm just saying that's what it takes to say okay, you can have a break.
Scientists believe that a period of intense universal inflation occurred in the blank canvas of the universe BEFORE the Big Bang. That means the Bang occurred everywhere at the same time. That explains all this cosmic background microwave stuff at the same temperature. No more singularity.

I was somewhat forced into watching Avatar: Fire and Ash. I feel asleep three separate times during the movie, and each time I woke up, I'd missed nothing. This is truly truly soulless movie-making, looks beautiful but that's about it. This isn't a trilogy. It's a theatre experiment.
