Looking at the street view, this is not the type of street I'm normally worried about cycling on. It looks like a slow residential street that's not a thoroughfare to anywhere. About as safe as it can get without dedicated bike lanes which goes to show you how little that means.

I do think that a peculiar affliction of the right (and tbh some liberals) is a kind of original sin mentality regarding prosperity. Past generations had to suffer even if they didn't "deserve it" and now you must bear that burden, because you're no better of a person than they were.

I bike every day, that's how I get to work and drop the lad off at daycare. We wear helmets for these trips and anecdotally I'd wager 98% or more of the cyclists we encounter are wearing helmets. Doesn't seem like "not enough helmet wearing" is a problem requiring a policy solution.

This is why "Private Equity" as a shibboleth for "bad business thing" is unhelpful. PE is one way to organize and fund companies. Some private equity owned businesses suck more ass, some less. Same with sole proprietorships, "family owned," public corps, partnerships, VC-funded etc. etc.
