The news today reminded me of some things. I recently recovered my model of the Scientist Swaglarian from one of my moving boxes. He once again holds a place of honour on my bookshelf. Speaking of Mordin, my old sketch of him remains one of my favourite drawings I ever did.

Today was a big day for our little guy. Took him to a busy restaurant to meet some friends, then swung by work and introduced him to a few of my work buddies. Then tonight, he even rolled over on purpose all by himself for the first time! And through it all, totally chill. 👼

For those wondering, I'll be in Osaka from the 9th to the 16th, and then Tokyo from the 17th to the 24th. It's just me and I haven't made any firm plans beyond that (and the major itself of course), so if you'd like to hang out at some point there, please shoot me a DM. 🙂

Round two of paternity leave begins today. A couple months to finally catch up on sleep, set up my office properly, and baby proof everything. Plus, I get to spend some extra time with my precious little fella. ☺️ All that, and a little trip to Japan in between... 😄

Sam hit 100 days old yesterday! Sleep deprivation side, he's been an angel so far, and he keeps getting cuter every day. ❤️ Though this is also about the point that Steph and I agreed not to post his face on social media anymore. Now I've really gotta fight the urge 😅

My little guy decided to wake up at 4am, went absolutely ballistic for an hour, and refused to settle anywhere but on my lap. It's now 6:40 and I'm finally able to go back to sleep for a little bit... I miss three days ago when he'd just sleep through the whole night...

I never thought I'd find myself plotting an infiltration into my bedroom in order to huff ass to confirm the presence of poop, while being frightened at the prospect of what I would have to do if I found some. Butt here we are. Alas, t'was merely the wind. My son and I may rest.

Assuming I don't design another op anytime soon, I'll say that my one regret is how few defenders I got to work on. I especially wanted to design a counter to trackers. I also wanted to make more ops that aren't trackers or flank watch, but that's just how things turned out.

Tomorrow I go back to work for a couple months. Should be fun getting back into the action. Apparently I'll also be ramping off operators (they're in great hands, don't worry) and taking on a new primary mandate. TBD what it will be exactly, but it should be very exciting stuff.

Something that is often a surprise to people is the nature of "ownership" designers have over their mandates. It's less comprehensive and far more fluid than you'd think. You're not deciding stuff so much as you're figuring out the best path to reach the objective you're given.
