Tigers were prowling Cambridge city centre today with 2 Stagecoach East 'Tiger'-branded Enviro400s on city services. 19702 spent the day on 1s and 3s with 19701 heading out of service into the city just after mid-day to take up duties on service 2. 19702 has an Azure blue front. 19701 is all white.

A revised livery (well branding) has been introduced by Stagecoach East for Busway vehicles. Volvo B8RLEs 21304/07 first to receive it - B7RLE 21303 last to receive old branding. New scheme reduces repaint costs and also cost of making good old branding which was prone to damage
Amongst the first colour transparencies we took in 1977, using a basic Cosmic Symbol camera with a fixed lens, was also our first photo of a Class 44 ‘Peak’ The date was May 24 1977 and the location Peterborough. The locomotive was 44008, which by that time has lost its ‘Penyghent’ nameplates.
On April 23 1994 ‘Dutch’-liveried Class 31/5 31558 was named 'Nene Valley Railway' at the preserved line’s Orton Mere Station. The naming marked the completion of a new platform at the station which had been built by BR Infrastructure Services following a competitive tender.

Enviro400 19007 (MX06 XAG) now with Stagecoach East Midlands is currently earmarked for donation to charity. It was new to Stagecoach Manchester in July 2006 but on July 24 2006 it was in Cambridge - along with the Stagecoach-owned stagecoach - to showcase plans to upgrade the Park & Ride services
An official photo supplied by British Rail's Civil Engineering Department shows Class 26036 at Perth following its repainting into the Civil Engineer's 'Dutch' livery. It was one of around four images that were taken to show the 'Dutch' livery on various types of locomotive.

Daimler Fleetline CRG6LX/Alexander A-type LHA 616F was new to Midland Red as its 6116 (classified DD12) in December 1967 passing to Midland Red East in 1981 It spent its entire life in Leicestershire Between May 1981 and withdrawal in November 1983 it carried an all over advert for National Holidays
An undated view at Nuneaton of Class 87/1 87101 ‘Stephenson’ shows the driver looking back before getting the ‘Right Away’ with a northbound express. The lack of a crest above the nameplate confirms that it is dated pre-May 1982, with the nameplates applied in October 1977.
In failing light on February 12 1983, Class 31/1 31321 heads 1E79 15:08 Birmingham New Street- Cambridge at Galley Common (west of Nuneaton). It is understood there were issues with the steam heating and the 31 was removed at Leicester with Class 37/0 37038 taking the train forward.
It was not until the film had been developed that I realised the exposure had captured the strong sunlight illuminating NSE 4-VEP 3521 as it formed the rear of a London-bound train at Clapham Junction on September 11 1990 against a rather dark and threatening sky (Original image - only dust removed)

A basic telephoto lens was used to capture Class 31/1 31294 as it hauled a trainload of Ketton cement wagons on the Nuneaton Avoiding Line on May 31 1983. It was pictured from the north end of platforms 4 and 5 at Nuneaton station. The avoiding line linked Midland Junction with Abbey Junction.
During the early 1990s I was fortunate to have an open invitation to visit BREL’s Doncaster Works In early 1994 arrangements were made for recently painted BR Telecoms (BRT) Class 20s 20075 ‘Sir William Cooke’ 20187 ‘Sir Charles Wheatstone’ to be posed on ‘The Lawn’
On June 12 1991 Railfreight Construction-branded Class 60 60006 ‘Great Gable’ heads east in the Three Horseshoes area between Whittlesea and March with a train of Redland wagons. The Brush-built locomotive had been accepted into service just two months earlier.
An immaculate Class 73/1 73112 and an equally smart 4CEP unit 1545 at Ashford on April 3 1990. The train had worked as a special from Canterbury West following the naming of the Class 73 ‘University of Kent at Canterbury’ to mark the Silver Jubilee of the University.

According to our records almost two thirds of the Stagecoach East allocation at Bedford 64% (41 vehicles) are now in the Steel Blue livery. That leaves 21 buses in 'Local' livery and two in orange 'distance' livery.

On Sunday August 19 1979 West Midlands PTE’s former Coventry Transport Daimler CVG 333Y (333 CRW) was taken on a photo tour around Coventry, Bedworth and Nuneaton. It is pictured in Galley Common, Nuneaton. On August 24th it became the last rear entrance bus to operate in Coventry
Passengers leave a Cravens (Class 105) two car DMU at Nottingham on April 28th 1984. The illuminated station signs were still carrying the 'Nottingham Midland' station name. The DMU formed 51284 and 54458 was at the time allocated to Lincoln depot

A smart looking Class 31/4 No. 31414 come off the Whitacre lines at Water Orton on August 11 1984 with the 1M30 0740 Norwich to Birmingham New Street. The lines on the left gain access to Tamworth and Derby. New as D5814, ETH was fitted in 1973. In October 1990 it was renumbered to 31514.
In blizzard conditions and those which would probably see bus services suspended today, a Midland Red Leyland National has managed to climb the hill in Thorntons Way in Stockingford Nuneaton as it starts its N39 journey back to Nuneaton. No details of date or vehicle.
