Living on stolen land, Wotjobaluk/Wergaia country. (Oz, in case it wasn't clear.) Green leftie. Elderly geek. Braillophile. Ailurophile. she/her

Spent a goodly chunk of yesterday replacing the mulch in the fernery and trimming dead leaves (and pruning the asparagus ferns! prickly sods), in hopes that spring will one day arrive... Cats found all the activity most interesting, and have respectfully declined to dig in the mulch - for now.

The fernery at my place, looking neat with new mulch and the plants trimmed, all ready for spring.

Well, the day *started* auspiciously - clear blue sky (and frost, but what would you, it's winter), the proper café open, got all the things done including the midwinter shear (looking quite neat, for a change); then the wet blanket descended for the drive home. Many maggies, zero choughs.

Went down the back to get firewood, and the NBN tower is glowing orange through the trees (the neighbour is playing Uriah Heep...). Turned back to see the sunset has turned the smoke from the fire orange... Ha, the Mallee. Stunning.

Hnf. The usual cafe is closed, had to go to the pretentious one a couple of doors down; and no choughs today, but there was one yesterday trundling along, wings extended upwards and all fluffed up - didn't see the adversary but had to deduce it!
