We are fighting for academic freedom legislation in Illinois. as other states are limiting the ability of faculty to freely research and teach, Illinois is working a step forward as a national leader. We are working with Illinois AAUP to make this happen.

I was quoted in the Sun-Times on the expansion of dual credit. As the State of Illinois fails to fund community colleges, the General Assembly has expanded dual credit undercutting our enrollment while requiring our faculty to oversee classes in high schools. suntimes.com/education/20...

Fighting for an elected board for the City Colleges of Chicago. Currently, the board is appointed by the mayor of Chicago. The CCC is the ONLY com college district that doesn’t elect its trustees in Illinois.

It was a successful 18 hours in Springfield for the IFT legislative breakfast today. Had some great conversations and spent some time over in the capital talking to legislators. Somehow this is the only photo I walked away with in our whirlwind trip.
