Ruby red Missouri just voted on this issue in a referendum last night, and eliminating the income tax lost 83% to 17%.

Like it or not, Francesca Hong’s answer to the Thanksgiving question broke through. It was a bad answer by an ill-prepared candidate, and it marks a troubling sign of things to come. Wisconsin Democrats have one week to sort this out.
I used to be so afraid of posting opinions that my followers and fellow Democrats might disagree with. No longer. If I have an opinion that I believe others need to hear - especially around elections - I just say it. I'll risk a few blocks and rude replies if it means getting the message out.
Great messaging here from El-Sayed. This is exactly what Michigan Democrats want and need to hear.

Whatever differences we might've had in the primary pale in comparison to what unifies us. All of us have to come together to make sure that we never let Mike Rogers see the US Senate.
Abdul El-Sayed won by less than 1 point despite every poll showing him up by double-digits. Primary polls are unreliable. Internal primary polls even less so. Do not let them feed into either overconfidence or pessimism, depending on who you support.
I've gone too many days without mentioning how much I love my Democratic candidate for #NY17. I cannot wait for Cait Conley to be my representative in Congress.

I actually believe that El-Sayed's much-closer-than-expected win over Stevens is the very best thing that could have happened to him...IF he learns the lesson. It should be a wake up call that NOTHING is guaranteed in elections and that overconfidence is a pitfall to avoid.

Another outcome I'm happy with. Progressive Donavan McKinney has defeated peculiar incumbent Shri Thanedar to represent this Detroit-area #MI13 seat. For a variety of reasons, this is precisely the kind of district where a progressive challenge was called for.

I still think that Abdul El-Sayed wins, but at this moment with almost 40% of the vote in, the most recent #MISen Democratic primary polls are looking a bit off. The El-Sayed number lines up, but the Haley Stevens number is off, suggesting that undecideds might have broken towards her in the end.
#KSSen was going to be next on my list of #WaveWatch elections but Cook Political Report updated their rating before I could add it. Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton will put this race on the edges of the map.
Arguably the best news of the night. Voters in very red states are showing that they are in no mood for Republican nonsense right now.

Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion
It's official. Kansas Republicans have lost their State Supreme Court referendum attempt, and it won't even be close. Fantastic news.

Another good result. Democrats in #MO01 have voted for Wesley Bell and denied Cori Bush. My satisfaction here has nothing to do with ideology. Cori Bush had way too many scandals during her years in Congress, and we don't need that kind of distraction threatening us when we retake the Majority.
More good news. Adam Hamilton - our most viable Democratic candidate for Kansas Senate - has easily won the multi-candidate #KSSen primary. This victory puts Kansas onto the 'on ramp' this November. If a big enough tsunami hits, a seat like this could ride the wave.
Meeee, too. The big difference between Hong and El-Sayed is El-Sayed's political talent and instinct. Don't get me wrong, I think he's got problems for a toss-up state, to be sure. It won't be easy, but it's doable. Compare that to Hong whose Thanksgiving answer last night was hall-of-fame bad.

I don't count myself as an El-Sayed fan but this assumption is way too premature. For all of my concerns about him too far left in a swing state, he is still a very talented politician, Jocelyn Benson is going to great in #MIGov, and the overall Dem environment will be more than enough.

Incredible. Not only are Kansas voters rebuking their Republicans' amendment, Missouri voters have just done the same. The Missouri' GOP's Amendment - which would make citizen-led, state constitutional amendments near impossible - has FAILED.

When it comes to ensuring Americans can live with dignity, we need to have a strong floor and no ceiling.
Mike Lawler and I are about the same age, and we grew up about 30 miles apart. The difference between us is how we've spent our lives. As a career political operative and lobbyist, Mike was out there profiting off our democracy, while as a soldier, I was putting my life on the line defending it.
