#GoodNews! The Trump Admin. has backed off of plans to end the critical ocean monitoring program (Ocean Observatories Initiative or OOI). Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan bill to block this proposed (and dangerous!) removal of deep-sea monitoring instruments.
Yesterday, President Trump signed a proclamation rolling back the remaining three marine monuments in the Pacific Ocean: portions of Papahānaumokuākea, the Islands Unit of the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument, and Muliāva (Rose Atoll) Marine National Monuments.
