Devil may care international man of misery

Various acacia trees are now in bloom, a good reason to slow down on the trail, and keep close to a waddle (wattle) pace. Also, the path is a slippery customer after the rain.

If you can go for a run… go for a run. The run won’t fix what’s broken but it will help you. The run won’t heal all the wounds or solve all the problems but it will help you. And we need you… to help do all the things that running can’t do. This is about running. This is not about running.

Completed Run-22 to cap off a high volume month, taking comfort in fact that if you are crazy enough to run this often then you are not crazy, according to J Heller’s seminal work.

My biggest disappointment with the odyssey is that I distinctly remember that in the book the character was called mister sigh clops and was a sad horse and now it’s presented as just another big one-eyed guy.

Racked up another 10 km just now, while listening to a podcast on codependent behaviours and hoping my running style was pleasing to the assorted dog walkers, stragglers and other ne’erdowells that passed by.

Snuck in a five miler before dark, but now will need another warm up in the shower, having finished colder than I started. I had sorted the apparel straight after lunch, when there was some sun giving an illusion of warmth to counter the chill, only to be delayed time and again.

Short run at dusk, facing into a cool glare, the remnants of the last rays of winter sun that had snuck past the gloom, only to be tempered by the chill air. Above the canopy, a single eucalyptus glowed, other worldly like a slide projected onto the forest’s shadow.

Girl, are you the shapeless winds that howl through the trees as I struggle to maintain a tempo pace on a winter’s afternoon, cause you’re giving me chills

Won’t be surprised if Egypt have all but resolved the Mo Salah hamstring issues ahead of this Socceroos match, they have world’s best Cairo-practors at their beck and call.

I’m hosting a gender reveal party this weekend, I figure it’s a suitable time with a low risk of error, since said child is turning 25 on Tuesday. Appreciate any tips others have on how to stylistically represent CookieMonster gender these days in a manner that is not carbohydrate normative.

I am sugar and spice and all things nice, but I’m out of sugar at the moment and am also running low in the all things nice department. I do have a surfeit of spice though.

Although this rings true for me, it is *very* unusual for a practitioner of CrossFit to admit they do CrossFit, so I naturally have suspicions that this could be fake. 🧐 But, perhaps try swimming anyway, you could get both your exercise and sense of porpoise quotas met at the same time. 🐬

Summary of new research on aging well: you need exercise and a sense of purpose. For example, my exercise is CrossFit and my sense of purpose is driving the oil and gas industry from the face of the earth so I am crushing life at 66. www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/20...

Completed my 26th parkrun today. Celebrating this milestone as I imagine the 26th iteration of something rarely gets the love. But feel I am at the point where the early infatuation has waned, only for a steady and dependable commitment to kick in.

What better way to welcome winter than with a 14 mile run, waved at everyone along the path today but all it yielded were cold fingers. General mood out there was grim.

Back to the trail for this week’s 10km run, a little slower with dodging of walkers, a detour around a nature study group and the ups and downs along the course.

Nine miles run today, steady pace, very quiet on the trail, in terms of others and also sounds since I have been raw dogging* it since I lost my earbuds a month back.
