Very happy to have this out in the world soon (in which I write about the synth-pop classic "Popcorn"). Many thanks to my co-editors, Nabeel Zuberi and Holly Kruse, and to our many contributors to this volume. Available in a few months, but feel free to order your copy now! Link in comments.

Gathering Shadows is happening in Wellington tonight and tomorrow at Vahalla. I'm spinning some cold, dark, minimal wave tomorrow (Saturday) night. Early set and between acts. The closet goth in me is very happy!
One of my favourite views of Wellington's skyline, snapped from a good friend's balcony. One of the last photos taken in this fair city in 2025. Here's to a new year! All the best to you and yours!
I took some photos this year. Here are a few of my faves from 2025 (best viewed on a proper screen, though a phone will do!) flic.kr/s/aHBqjCjJNA

Looking forward to this year's edition of IASPM Australia New Zealand, Musical Translations & Musical Transformations, which we're hosting here in Wellington.
Author's copies of the Boodle book arrived today. This brings me joy. I read it last night. Found a typo. But I'm proud of this and it means a lot to me to have this out in the world, a book about one of New Zealand's best and my favourite NZ band and their landmark Boodle EP.
Playing some vinyls at Rogue & Vagabond tonight (Friday) 6:30-9:30 NZT. A sauntering warm-up set for your soirée, an arousing amuse-bouche for your dinner plans or just an excuse to hear some weird and wonderful sounds.
Friday morning sounds, celebratory edition. Happy to share that the manuscript for my contribution to the 33 1/3 series, on The Clean's Boodle Boodle Boodle EP, has been sent off to the publisher*. Robert and David have given it the thumbs up (off?) and I'm quite happy with it (as is my editor!).
In their snazzy new apps and sites update effective as of January this year, Stuff (and related news sites) have disabled their search functionality (along with "Saved Stories"). So we only live in the present with online NZ news it seems.
Some 2023 pics I took (I went with the obvious total of 365). Snapped here in NZ and overseas. Enjoy. flic.kr/s/aHBqjB8Gk1
Best of 2023
