My end of the year music take is about Elvis Costello’s 1989 song “Tramp the Dirt Down.” The verse melody is the same as Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” but the subject matter and instrumentation is closer to an Irish funeral than the birth of a child.
