It adds cumulative costs to the enemy’s ability to fight. It is not about knock-out blows. Seizing or destroying the facilities at Kharg does not instantly end Iran’s ability to fight.
Bless her dear, sweet heart. If we could do that, we'd've done it 200 years ago. And never needed computers, let alone AI. But it's a worthy dream.
Katie Mack@astrokatie.com · 5mo agoIn my utopian vision of the future, instead of offloading all the pointless, annoying work tasks (like reports that none one will read and needlessly opaque forms) to robots, we restructure work and society so that the pointless tasks don't happen at all.
Is fusion really peculiarly British? I suppose there is a case that it's a legacy of Empire. Regardless, we would be immeasurably poorer if we threw away the ingredients for things like this.

Oo: an update to the Microsoft Services Agreement! I note that we now agree not to use AI to subliminally influence people with the intention of changing their behaviour in a way that causes harm. Quibble: does this prohibit any change of behaviour which is determined independently to be harmful?

Have you ever noticed chat GPT begin to produce an answer and then replace it with "I'm just an LLM. I can't answer that question"? Try "new query". It just recovered the original response twice for me. As always with the Young Master, YMMV.
