Something that bothers me: why do Yanks pronounce 'oe' as 'ay' (like Ezra Koenig) or 'eh' (like David Koepp) when literally everyone else pronounces it 'oh' or 'er' (since IIRC 'oe' is another way of writing 'ö')? How the fuck do you get 'ay' from a phoneme consisting of the letters 'o' and 'e'???

There aren't many things I'll give the Yanks credit for, but I will give them this: they have the right idea when it comes to pronouncing 'lieutenant' and spelling 'instalment'.

If I had £1 for every film I saw last week in which a parentless 20-something alcoholic woman is forced to become a better person after her life is upended by tragedy, I'd have £2. Yes, I am saying that Effi of "Effi o Blaenau" and Kara "Supergirl" Zor-El are the same person.

Me: makes posts on personal Tumblr specifically in June or July about having stuffy nose, itchy eyes, a sore throat, and a headache for several years Me: had itchy eyes, a runny nose, and a headache yesterday and has been sneezing a fair amount recently Me: might this be hayfever?

I am extremely against suicide baiting and would never do so to another person. However, generative AI proponents who wilfully ignore the damage their sole personality trait does make it REALLY hard for me to stick to that principle.

It's a weekend, there's a heatwave going on, I'm off to an outdoor event tomorrow, there's a history of alcoholism in the family, and I don't have work until Wednesday. You can guess what's probably going to happen and what the consequences will be.

"The question one must ask oneself on new releases going forth does not regard the film itself - writing, character development, cinematography, etc. The question one must ask oneself is 'does this film handle its female characters better than 'Project Hail Mary'?'" - Socrates, probably

Apparently "Disclosure Day" is 2hrs 25mins. I WAS vaguely interested in it, but a) that's too long to spend watching something that was written by David Koepp, and b) I've already sat through one critically-acclaimed sci-fi film that was too long for its own good and markedly underwhelming.

If you didn't read those names and end it with 🎵 we didn't start the fire!🎵, either you get out the house more often than I or you have no sense of whimsy.
