Championship Sunday. If Aonishiki beats Atamifuji, the title is his. If Atamifuji wins, it sets up a playoff. Kirishima can be part of that playoff if he beats Kotozakura. Who takes the Cup? Day 15 July yusho odds: Aonishiki 40% Atamifuji 30% Kirishima 30% #sumo #sumospoilers

5 contenders remain. Aonishiki beats Kirishima, Shishi and Takerufuji lose and Atamifuji beats Hoshoryu to set up a wild finish. Losses by Kotoeiho and Takayasu knock them out. Day 14 July yusho odds: Kirishima 25% Aonishiki 23% Atamifuji 22% Takerufuji 20% Shishi 10% #sumo #sumospoilers

Aonishiki loses to Kotoshoho and gives us a 4-way tie for first. Curiously, the JSA gave two contenders over to the struggling Yokozuna, both of whom could go kyujo today. Day 13 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 36% Takerufuji 25% Shishi 15% Atamifuji 10% Aonishiki 9% Kotoeiho 5% #sumo

Predicting #sumo leaderboard opponents for the final few days. Day 13 (set): Kirishima vs. Aonishiki - Kirishima Takerufuji vs. Onosato - Takerufuji Shishi vs. Kotozakura - Kotozakura Day 14: Kirishima vs. Shishi - Kirishima Takerufuji vs. Aonishiki - Takerufuji (1/2)

Shishi and Kotoeiho deliver the bout of the basho and Shishi comes out on top. Meanwhile, Aonishiki beats Gonoyama (with a hairpull?) and hits 10 wins, securing a return to Ozeki. Day 12 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 33% Takerufuji 18% Aonishiki 16% Shishi 14% Kotoeiho 13% The Field 6% #sumo

Aonishiki beats both Yokozuna on 1 leg while Kotoeiho continues to dominate the rank-and-file. I see a yusho in Kotoeiho's future if Kirishima stumbles. Day 11 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 28% Kotoeiho 27% Takerufuji 13% Shishi 11% Aonishiki 11% The Field 10% #sumo

Chaos at the top leave two low Maegashira and a severely injured Aonishiki atop the leaderboard. We’ve got a WILD week ahead. Day 10 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 25% Kotoeiho 25% Hoshoryu 15% Shishi 12% Takerufuji 12% Hakunofuji 11% The Field 10%

Kotoeiho and Shishi are looking great but Aonishiki still has me very worried with a surging Onosato today. Kirishima's gauntlet run starts soon. Day 9 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 33% Hoshoryu 22% Kotoeiho 16% Takerufuji 10% Hakunofuji 10% Onosato 4% Shishi 3% The Field 2% #sumo

Shishi loses and we now have a 7-way tie for first at the midway mark. Aonishiki is in the mix but that ankle injury looks like a ticking time bomb. Day 8 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 30% Hoshoryu 16% Kotoeiho 15% Takerufuji 12% Atamifuji 12% Aonishiki 8% The Field 7% #sumo

Shishi is now sole leader and might steal a title à la Kotoshoho last July. Hoshoryu gets tripped up and gets his 2nd loss. So much for that first Yokozuna yusho. Day 7 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 28% Hakunofuji 16% Hoshoryu 14% Daieisho 12% Shishi 10% Kotoeiho 10% The Field 10% #sumo

Kirishima falls to Hiradoumi and his Yokozuna bid ends there. Wakanosho and Shishi remain unbeaten but I’m still skeptical. Aonishiki got hurt and will start losing. Day 6 July 2026 yusho odds: Hoshoryu 25% Kirishima 25% Wakanosho 15% Aonishiki 15% Atamifuji 10% The Field 10% #sumo

It’s the Revenge of the Komusubi as Yoshinofuji and Oho both upset Aonishiki and Kotoshoho. Onosato gets his third loss and will surely bow out soon. Day 5 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 30% Hoshoryu 20% Aonishiki 18% Kotozakura 12% Atamifuji 10% Kotoshoho 6% The Field 4% #sumo

Fujinokawa claims yet another Yokozuna scalp, making four in the last 3 basho. Is he that good or are our Yokozuna just that vulnerable? Our sekiwake and Kirishima stay unbeaten. Day 4 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 28% Aonishiki 20% Hoshoryu 15% Atamifuji 15% Kotoshoho 12% The Field 10% #sumo

Onosato falls to Fujinokawa and the odds of him going kyujo soar. The rest of the san'yaku are doing their jobs. Hoshoryu, Aonishiki and Kotozakura all look healthy! Day 3 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 25% Hoshoryu 22% Aonishiki 18% Atamifuji 12% Yoshinofuji 10% Kotozakura 10% The Field 3% #sumo

A damn good first day of action to the July basho. 7 of our 9 san'yaku won and cleaned up against the rank-and-file. Onosato though... I'm seeing kyujo in his future. Day 2 July 2026 yusho odds: Kirishima 22% Yoshinofuji 20% Hoshoryu 20% Aonishiki 16% Atamifuji 11% The Field 11% #sumo

Called it. Kirishima goes down on Day 15 and now things get interesting. We could get an outright winner, a san'yaku playoff or a 5-6 man playoff. Stay up late for this one! Day 15 May yusho odds: Kirishima 47% Wakatakakage 43% Yoshinofuji 5% Fujiryoga 3% Hakunofuji 1% Kotoeiho <1% Ura <1% #sumo

Day 13 was by far the best day of the basho. This one will go down to the wire. We now get a 7-man Makushita playoff too! I predict Hakunofuji upsets Kirishima on Day 14 to give us pure chaos on Day 15! Day 14 May yusho odds: Kirishima 55% Wakatakakage 25% Yoshinofuji 15% Kotoeiho 5% #sumo

And then there were 3... days to go. Kirishima and Kotoeiho co-lead and fight for the sole lead tonight. Meanwhile, is that URA I'm seeing one off the pace??? Day 13 May yusho odds: Kirishima 50% Wakatakakage 22% Kotoeiho 20% Yoshinofuji 5% Tobizaru 2% Ura URA% (He's No. 1) #sumo

The leaderboard gets cut in half after losses by Wakatakakage, Gonoyama and Fujiryoga, but we still have at least 9 guys in contention with four days to go. Day 12 May yusho odds: Kirishima 45% Wakatakakage 20% Kotoeiho 15% Yoshinofuji 8% Tobizaru 7% Gonoyama 3% The Field 2% #sumo

M10e Asanoyama and O1e Kotozakura both go kyujo on Day 12. As it relates to the title race, Kotoeiho gets a freebie over a guy he's never beaten and retains a share of the lead; Kirishima now gets one less mandatory fight and will probably battle Kotoeiho AND Tobizaru on Days 13-14. #sumo

Shodai the Lord of Chaos lives up to his name and slaps down Kirishima. We have a SIX-way tie for first and 4 more off by 1 with 5 days left. 6 contenders are M10 or worse... Day 11 May yusho odds: Kirishima 40% Wakatakakage 30% Gonoyama 10% Kotoeiho 10% Fujiryoga 5% Tobizaru 3% The Field 2% #sumo

And just like that Kirishima is back as sole leader after crushing Wakamotoharu out (and suffering a bloody bump on the forehead for the effort). Things are VERY tight. Day 10 May yusho odds: Kirishima 55% Wakatakakage 25% Kotoshoho 6% Fujiryoga 5% Gonoyama 5% Kotoeiho 3% The Field 1% #sumo

After a week of living on the edge, Gonoyama pushes Kirishima over it and gives us a tight race. I’m not having fun with what I’m seeing. Day 9 May yusho odds: Kirishima 49% Wakatakakage 33% Tobizaru 10% The Field 8% #sumo

If there's ever been a less convincing 7-0 start from a prohibitive yusho favorite I haven't seen it, but Kirishima is getting it done. Tobizaru could be making a run here... Day 8 May yusho odds: Kirishima 65% Wakatakakage 24% Kotoeiho 7% Tobizaru 3% The Field 1% #sumo

Kirishima pulls victory from the jaws of defeat vs Oho and is now our sole unbeaten thanks to some Ura magic over Kotoeiho. The other contenders are emerging though. 5 are within 1, another 7 within 2. Day 7 May yusho odds: Kirishima 63% Wakatakakage 20% Fujiryoga 9% Kotoeiho 6% The Field 2% #sumo

A first-ever 5-0 start for Kirishima bodes well but more dominance would be nice. Kotoeiho (not to be confused with Kotoshoho) is also dominating the lower maegashira right now. Another six guys are 4-1. Sheesh. Day 6 May yusho odds: Kirishima 58% Wakatakakage 20% KotoEIHO 15% The Field 7% #sumo
