After 38 years as a professor at UCSB, John Bowers is retiring. Bowers, a pioneer in lasersand photonics has served as director of the IEE at UCSB since it was founded in 2008 and is also a Distinguished Prof in the Depts of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Materials, and Technology Management.
