UK Laser-Tag Alliance

@uklta.bsky.social

UKLTA runs sci-fi/modern/horror themed LARP. There's the usual mix of role-playing, investigation and puzzle solving but we use outdoor Laser-Tag equipment to simulate ranged combat so you can have tactical gunfights that just work. https://linktr.ee/uklta

I've been doing some much neglected manual admin of bookings. This is where we stand today... OD3E play 22 OD3E crew 15 Cyberpunk play 9 Cyberpunk crew 7 ...We'd love to see a few booking for both Only in Death Does Duty End - Selling Souls and Cyberpunk: A Life on the Edge.

Today's your last chance to bag an early-bird ticket to Dropzone 2026, our long-running anthology LARP event. The games this year are... - Zombies - Hellgate 3: The Abyss Stares Back - Stargate: A New Frontier - The Asset - High Frontier: Rivers of Blood ukltalarp.mozellosite.com/store/item/e...

UKLTA's summer event this year is Only in Death Does Duty End - Selling Souls. This event is an unofficial fan #LARP set in the Warhammer 40K universe. Selling Souls is a direct sequel to 2025's Searching Souls, which was very popular, and is set just a few weeks after that dramatic escape.

The banner for the event with name, dates and location. It is on a black background with a skull logo surrounded by "Only in Death Does Duty End".

At "Something and Social" we stripped down the 7 Nerf LaserOps Pro that somebody donated to look into the feasibility of making them into loan sidearms to go with our loan PulseRangers. We got them all stripped and mostly painted, and they're now a big box of painted parts awaiting a custom PCB.

The internals of a Nerf LaserOps Pro showing the wiring switches and PCB.Lots of painted plastic parts laid out on newspaper on low benches. They are painted mostly black with some silver parts.

It's our first event of 2026 this weekend. It's mostly a social where we're going to be fixing up kit, talking nonsense and watching a rubbish movie in the evenings. It's also an opportunity for those running games to talk about the coming year's events and serves as an informal committee meeting.

UKLTA recently went through its committee election process and the current members were confirmed for another year... Chair - Paul Watson Treasurer - Jenny Watson Secretary - Simon Barker Event Coordinator - Nick Reynolds Safety Officer - Ewan Munro We'll now open event booking as soon as we can.

We've now updated the theme for the Only in Death Does Duty End website. It's still missing next event details but we'll get that up ASAP. We've used Blogger for several event sites like this, it's a reasonably decent free way to host things non-technical people can add posts to. od3e.larp.org.uk

The GMs for our Cyberpunk LARP got together and planned things out this weekend. We're still 48 weeks away but one thing we have actually been good at is "little and often" planning. This small wall of post-its is the first run at a high level "things that need to get done" and more will be added.

Yellow post-its arranged in columns, stuck to a wall and door. They have been pixelated so they cannot be read.

We have confirmed our 2026 #LARP calendar. More on each event soon... March 27-29 - TBC (anthology games event) May 22-25 - Dropzone (anthology games event) July 17-19 - Only in Death Does Duty End - "Selling Souls" (full weekend game) October 2-4 - Cyberpunk: A Life on the Edge (full weekend game)

Our High Frontier GMs are busy getting the October UKLTA #LARP event squared away. With our 40K themed event completely full for players now we'll be pushing to fill this one. There are plenty of spots in The Weyland Factor at the moment for both players and crew.

We did an in-person meeting today to flesh out our #LARP High Frontier: The Weyland Factor, probably the last one we can manage before the event itself and it'll be online only from here on. Bookings are going OK but we could do with a few more. ukltalarp.mozellosite.com/events/

Dropzone 2025 is over and the photos are starting to trickle in. I think this one from our UNIT #LARP is going to be hard to beat. One of our new attendees volunteered to crew as a Weeping Angel and her ability to stand absolutely still for ages in this costume was unbelievably effective. Terrifying

A #LARP crewmember wearing a Doctor Who Weeping Angel costume made from strips of grey fabric, grey wig, long grey gloves, strap on wings and one of the official merchandise masks painted to match. The effect is completely uncanny.

She is reaching out to touch the photographer.

It's Dropzone this weekend so all our GMs are running around gathering their stuff and heading to Coventry. I've just printed out the briefs for the Cyberpunk game I'm involved in running and am throwing costume in bags.

Some printed sheaves of paper in old fashioned plastic gripper binders.

Yep we're just two weeks away now and attendance is at the "just right" level for the planned games but we still have spots open for Dropzone 2025...

Dropzone (UKLTA's bank holiday, anthology weekend of laser-tag based #LARP near Coventry, England) is rapidly approaching so I spent the weekend hammering together the final details of the game I'm running. Tickets still available: ukltalarp.mozellosite.com/store/item/e... 1/8

With just under three weeks to go Dropzone is looking to be one of UKLTA's busiest for a few years and there's still time to get a ticket. We're a long established club and provide loan LaserTag equipment to you for a small returnable deposit if you're new. ukltalarp.mozellosite.com/store/item/e...

We now provide loan kit to anybody new to us. Earlier this year we fixed up 14 'PulseRangers' for this, which are styled after the classic Pulse Rifle. Made from very heavy formed plastic shells they're not pretty but tough as hell. Our chair has been painting them up to make them look a bit nicer.

A close up of a vacuum formed plastic moulding partially painted in green and brown.

Having polled our members UKLTA's 2026 dates are... 21 Feb - TagCon 27-29 Mar - probably a 'weekend game' 22-25 May - Dropzone, we will consider 'themeing' it 17-19 Jul - probably a 'weekend game' 2-4 Oct - probably an 'Extraction Point' anthology event plus an 'off season' social/practical event.
