When I moved to NYC for college, I got mugged my freshman year, and the attitude of people I knew from the city was, "That sucks, but that's just a thing that happens." Was hardly alone in having that experience as a New Yorker. Compared to today? No one I know has been mugged in roughly a decade.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

A good rule of thumb on questions like this is what I like to call the Dos Equis Principle. If you're asked in local politics about a beloved cultural staple and which version is your favorite, you never, ever go negative. You state that you "prefer" a certain option.

Isekai as a genre is exploding in popularity because it appeals to a universal desire to get hit by a truck rather than live in the 21st century.

The media conditioned listeners in the 1990s to hate Hip Hop and Nu Metal because they were bridging cultural gaps between racial groups through a mutual understanding of angst and bringing working class black and white Americans closer together.
