I'm just going to keep tapping the "Bond is dead, and that's okay" sign. I wish the homunculus that is whatever comes next the best of luck.
James Bond producer shares update on 007 casting: ‘It’s got to be really different’
Classic Novels Edition: Ernest Hemingway, THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA Robert Heinlein, STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND JD Salinger, THE CATCHER IN THE RYE William Golding, LORD OF THE FLIES William S Burroughs, NAKED LUNCH

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Dir. Philip Kaufman
#WNBA but present it like a soap opera.
When I moved to NYC for college, I got mugged my freshman year, and the attitude of people I knew from the city was, "That sucks, but that's just a thing that happens." Was hardly alone in having that experience as a New Yorker. Compared to today? No one I know has been mugged in roughly a decade.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
A good rule of thumb on questions like this is what I like to call the Dos Equis Principle. If you're asked in local politics about a beloved cultural staple and which version is your favorite, you never, ever go negative. You state that you "prefer" a certain option.
What is u doing
Not only would I not notice: I would get more work done faster based on the the compounding effect of load times across both physical machines and the entire internet improving.
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
So for those keeping track, Trabzonspor's wingers for this upcoming season are Mo Salah... and World Cup hero Sidney Cabral
🚨💣 BREAKING: Mo Salah to Trabzonspor, here we go! Club confirms agreement in place for the Egyptian striker. Salah joins on two year deal as free agent after leaving Liverpool.
It truly isn't football season until the preseason Jalen Hurts disrespect begins. We're so back. Go Birds.
Our 2026 NFL Quarterback Tiers results are here. The panel this year consisted of 21 execs and 29 coaches overall. Each voter placed 35 veteran QBs into five tiers, from best (Tier 1) to worst (Tier 5). nyti.ms/4yYcfln
On the one hand, I don't think the MLB should have a salary cap, and I'm glad the MLBPA has the power that they do in collective bargaining. On the other, there needs to be some mechanism by which the league can prevent a team from becoming Manchester City.
Tarik Skubal, the most coveted pitcher at this year’s MLB trade deadline, is headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers after they agreed to a trade with the Detroit Tigers on Saturday evening, league sources told The Athletic. More details: nyti.ms/4yUkbnw
Setting aside other factors, I don't think you can really appreciate the aesthetics of NYC without the graffiti and street art. It's literally foundational culture in the city.
This is it boys, the platonic "New York can never get better" piece www.archpaper.com/2026/07/litt...
I remember being shown the infamous college football video on celebrations from the early 1990s when I played in high school (the one that is essentially just Miami and FSU dancing for 20 minutes), and I swear it was narrated by the exact same guy.
congratulations to mizzou on everything about this
I am now unable to get out of my head an alternate version of Mean Girls where it's just episode 1 of Regina George's isekai, and I'm never going to be able to forget that.
Isekai as a genre is exploding in popularity because it appeals to a universal desire to get hit by a truck rather than live in the 21st century.
The media conditioned listeners in the 1990s to hate Hip Hop and Nu Metal because they were bridging cultural gaps between racial groups through a mutual understanding of angst and bringing working class black and white Americans closer together.
Post your hottest music take. Mine is New Order is better than Joy Division.
Infantino really should have known better. The most fundamental unwritten rule of a protection racket is that you NEVER go in on your own score. You pitch your scheme to the organization and make sure the right people get their cut. The moment you go into business for yourself, you're finished.
Fifa scrap privatisation plans in humiliating climbdown for Infantino - that may not be enough to save him www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...
Ever since I saw the suggestion of Jason Mantzoukas for the role, I haven't been able to get that idea or a modern version of The Odyssey that accentuates the comedy & absurdity out of my head.
If not Matt Damon, who is you alternative Odysseus?
In anticipation of roughly 10,000 National Treasure jokes, I just want to say well done everyone.
Cage's new film Fortitude was allegedly sitting on an unencrypted drive in Netflix's offices when someone walked off with it.
NHL 1. Panthers 2. Rangers 3. Lightning 4. Caps 5. Devils (Feel like this is every Canes fan's list with the teams in varying positions) NFL 1. Cowboys 2. Patriots 3. Giants 4. Steelers 5. 49ers (The Commanders have never been relevant/good enough for me to care about them)
Gimme your top 5 hated teams for your favorite sports. I am just going with NFL and MLB because its hard to write em all down. NFL 1. Rams 2. 9ers 3. Steelers 4. Packers 5. Broncos MLB 1. Astros 2. Yankees 3. Blue Jays 4. Rangers 5. Red Sox
How about an entire starting 5 born in NC? PG - Chris Paul SG - David Thompson SF - Sam Jones PF - James Worthy C - Bob McAdoo
name a North Carolinian
Somehow, this goes unfathomably hard.
just became aware of William Howard Taft’s 1908 campaign poster
*chanting steadily growing louder* "En-ron. En-Ron! EN-RON! EN-RON!!!!!

We have never as a society processed the trauma of 9/11, The Great Recession, the school shooting epidemic, COVID, or Jan 6th, among other tragedies. If anything, our last quarter century as a nation has been defined by reacting to tragedy explicitly through mass outpourings of rage and violence.
One of my Crank Theories of Everything, at least of Everything in the Recent Past, is that we are dealing (badly) with COVID trauma we’d mostly prefer to pretend never happened.
Nice that we've preserved Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo's apartment building.
they unwrapped the Macy’s Gift Bag, so obviously I had to go see what was inside. (it wasn’t an Alfani sweater???)
One of my most "old man yells at cloud" opinions is that I hate that we elevate Souls games as the pinnacle of difficult gaming when we used to have brutal games like Contra and Ninja Gaiden that never saved your progress and arguably presented a greater challenge.

Every day we grow closer to a promotion/relegation pyramid involving the NFC South and the SEC
So to recap, today in the NFC South: -Falcons won't get Penix cleared for weeks, Tua is out with back tightness -Panthers lost rookie WR Chris Brazzell to an LCL tear -Saints lost DL Bryan Bresee, maybe for year -Bucs have Vita Vea both day-to-day and looking to be traded The fun division!
People think "Hollywood" is rich and famous. The reality? Film and TV is a national industry. It's a blue collar industry. And it is an industry free fall. My latest for @newrepublic.com on how the Paramount merger would crush blue collar workers who can not afford it newrepublic.com/article/2136...
There’s a Blue-Collar Hollywood—and the Paramount Merger Will Kill It
Hollywood isn’t all glamour. It’s thousands of line workers. And a Paramount takeover of Warner will make their lives even more precarious.

Congratulations to Boeing on going from the literal standard in safety and reliability globally to now being the best argument for building a national high-speed rail network.
More than one third of seats installed in Boeing 737 MAX jets pose a safety risk, according to the FAA.
Newsom really is the real-life Job Bluth.
who needs oppo when we have newsom's photoshoots??
Lmao Bari Weiss is trying to turn 60 Minutes into Project Veritas
Bari Weiss & Nick Bilton are busy trying to recruit talent for their revamped "60 Minutes," conducting dozens of screen tests. And CBS News leaders "have also expressed a desire to air hidden camera-style investigative pieces" on the show. The scoop in @status.news www.status.news/p/60-minutes...
