The godfather of giant mecha in Sentai! Designed Leopardon for Toei's Spider-Man (y'know, the mech with a cats anus for a mouth), the popularity of which lead to Toei including giant Mecha's in their Sentai series moving forward.

RIP Katsushi Murakami (1942-2026). A legendary designer for many tokusatsu & anime series (Gavan, Bioman, Giraya Ninja, Ulysse 31, Space Adventure Cobra, Gatchaman...), and toys. x.com/Alien_anvil/...

This is *technically* speaking not true. both Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor received a limited overseas theatrical release in the 1980s. So Domestic/Designed for theatres? Sure. Worldwide? Not even close. The Ewok movies honked at the box office.

Before Beyblade, there was THIS. We put a forgotten 1989 Tomy Spinjas set up against a bizarre British toy from 1983 called Space Attack... and somehow the broken one ended up being more fun. Peak 80s toy chaos. 🚀🎮 youtu.be/bPtghB7CMsI #RetroToys #80sToys #Nostalgia
