How does borderness emerge? What roles do textu(r)ality, relationality, density & complexity play? These questions guided the internal colloquium of the Bordertextures Working Group at the University of Luxembourg. Great discussions and inspiring ideas for the further development of the approach.

Two inspiring days of exchange on relational borders and (cross-)border relations hosted by UniGR-CBS @uni-saarland.de brought together the UniGR-CBS Seminar Border Studies, the UdS American Studies Graduate Forum and the DAAD Eastpartnership “Border Chronotopes”, for interdisciplinary dialogue.

At the ABS Annual Conference 2026, Astrid Fellner (@uni-saarland.de) traced a conceptual shift from borderlands to bordertextures, proposing as a decolonial, pedagogical practice inspired by Gloria Anzaldúa that foregrounds relationality, affect, and embodied ways of knowing the border. #UniGR_CBS
