Dispatch from the Piedmont 🌿 When everything that can go wrong does, it at least happens against a stunningly green backdrop. Our team spent the day navigating the lush landscapes of Cape Fear Dairyland proving that even a chaotic itinerary is better with a view.

What does it take to deliver a complex conservation win? 🌿 Boiling Spring Wilderness is a good answer. This 1,040-acre project completes a missing link between two already-conserved areas, helping form a more continuous 10,000-acre protected landscape in fast-growing Brunswick County.

A legacy for generations. 🌿 Massey Chapel is about more than protecting habitat, it's about protecting a community's story. The land traces back to Harvey Carlton, who bought property here in 1878, and whose family farmed it for decades.

They took an old farm and: ✅ Restored 8,224 linear feet of stream & 3.2 acres of wetlands ✅ Removed inline impoundments to restore hydrology ✅ Replanted native floodplain & wetland vegetation

A nature park does not only protect land. It gives nearby communities room to breathe. 🌳 Massey Chapel will serve the Raleigh-Durham community as a protected natural stretch connected to the American Tobacco Trail a place where conservation and everyday access meet.
