This replica fossil skull is of a Sea Otter Dog. The strong tooth enamel and shape of the premolars suggest this was the first dog adapted to cracking its prey's bones for the marrow inside. Enhydrocyon lived 29-21 million years ago. #paleosky #FossilFriday

Our student staff have done it again! Our Paramylodon front desk attendant Mylo (from Western Science Center) has a very on-theme uniform these days. And of course their wings are anatomically correct for bees. 🐝🏛️

A tiny bee on a Douglas aster flower in our Native Plant Courtyard! Douglas aster loves disturbed areas and is a late-summer food source for many pollinators. 🌸🐝

This thimbleberry flower from spring in our courtyard really brings out the yellow on the bumblebee! Thimbleberry plants have large fuzzy leaves and grow all over the western United States. 🌸🐝

Nootka Rose is native and widespread west of the Rocky Mountains! Rosa nutkana are primarily pollinated by bees, who love the open-faced flowers. 🐝🌸🏛️

The bees love our Native Plant Courtyard's showy milkweed! Asclepias speciosa is one of four common native milkweeds in Oregon. 🏛️🌸🐝
