S/o to @mallidharmaraj.bsky.social for this exposition on Aadhaar modeled tech being imported to East Africa via Indian Ocean World networks. Her unpacking of caste in relationship to enslavement historically and present technical flows is rare and prescient www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Perhaps this deserve a less esoteric introduction. Weaving memoir with an analysis of technology, automated decision systems and AI more broadly. This is something between a love letter and quarterly report on where Logic(s) has been and where it’s going.

Needed to be silent for a while but sharing a piece meditating on my life and Logic(s). Got locked up with sheep and re-discovered awe and wonder in goat missing its two front legs that learned to move like a kangaroo. logicmag.io/2026/meditat...

Really enjoyed this book. Does a very good job of linking babbages engines to the history of neural networks while problematizing our assumptions of the mental/manual divide

After "The Nerd Reich", we'll read "The Eye of the Master: A Social History of Artificial Intelligence" by @mttpsq.bsky.social. Forecasting reading speed is hard, but I think we'll start in late September. "The Eye of the Master" is available now, your library may have it. You can also get it here:

might be common knowledge, but some people block channels that use AI in thumbnails. youtube has an option to "never recommend this channel again" and i only ever use it when a channel's thumbnails are all AI i hope someone can convey to aspiring youtubers that it'd be good to grow out of this ASAP

I also wish these guys would stop using AI thumbnails particularly when they aren’t playing an SEO game at all

FWIW, Meta was fully aware of how these glasses would primarily be used. The glasses were designed to erase consent, and that is why they exist. Anything that they do that suggests they want to ameliorate this use is an attempt to win the PR battle and manipulate public opinion.

Meta Desperately Trying to Ban Creeps Misusing Its AI "Pervert Glasses"

Meta is vowing to crack down on creeps misusing its Ray Ban smart glasses. Whether it will be enough to regain trust remains to be seen.
