Oh, also, rich people know the right answer here. This is exactly the kind of exploitative sucker's choice that gets forced on poor people all the time, because companies and rich people know many people will make bad financial decisions. The solution isn't to be like "You're doing great, sweetie!"

This is not a mockery or insult, but I wanted to bring this common idea up to analyze it. We net-import +3 million barrels of oil annually, which actually hides the true mismatch. The forms of oil we export are not the same as imports, and that creates additional costs and frictions.

Thanks for the correction. In that DOE clip: "These crude oils are not segregated in storage but are commingled according to their sulfur content into two categories". If that includes commingling domestic & imported oil, then I think that means we produce the different types we need.

The clock starts running on the South's lifespan the second the war kicks off because it can't really feed itself. A situation that becomes worse once both Corinth and central TN are lost very early in the war, and Southern internal transportation networks take a major hit.

I don't know if that was theologically right or wrong. I suspect SSPX was never, ever going to calm down. But the olive branch meant they can't use the Latin mass as a wedge issue. Since the fight isn't really over the symbolism, remove the symbolism and force them to make their intentions plain.

Benedict's main flaw re the SSPX specifically was being a bit too credulous about the "we just want the old mass" stuff. Probably because, like a lot of people with niche interests, he was willing to assume other people cared about liturgy as much as he did.

Not sure how I feel about 2 because I think the main alternative is freemium/gacha models of monetization which are way worse for consumers. In fact under some fairly realistic assumptions they can perfectly* do third degree price discrimination.

At least for the moment, the big problem with AI is that it functions like gambling in economic terms: It hasn't created more useful end production of goods or services, at least not yet. What it has done is redirect resources that would go towards useful goods or services to AI instead.
