Americans seem to be waking up to the fact that the primaries are the real elections. A massive amount of America is gerrymandered so that the only meaningful election that happens is either the dem or republican primary. Seeing progressives winning these battles is really fucking cool.
We have not had a chance to elect this many progressive members into congress in my lifetime. Yes, everything is on fire. That being said, we could do some amazing stuff to start preventing these fires from happening in the first place.

It’s a boring topic but corporate fines and jail time for executives is actually a pretty big lever that if adjusted right could be hugely beneficial to the US. Companies can routinely break laws and cause havoc and then they get a fine that is less than this year’s executive bonuses. It’s a joke.

Part of what is so scary about the US falling to fascism is that it is becoming increasingly expensive to simply live your life. The reason that one should be in any way optimistic is that the upper middle class and even the lower upper class will be eaten by billionaires if they don’t fight.
The funniest thing about the AG situation is there’s precedent for similar moves (President nominating his own lawyer) all the way back to George Washington. Regan’s personal lawyer was AG in 1981 too etc. Like yes, we’ve done the corrupt gov thing for a while.
