I'm a Ukrainian-American living in Kyiv and I literally got bombed a few hours ago and my city is still on fire and dozens are dead. This happens every week or so just in Kyiv. It's worse in other places. I sure as fuck am entitled to push the United States into helping Ukraine defend itself.

As of this morning, Kyiv authorities report that nearly two dozen people were confirmed injured after the mass attack, and at least 16 have been killed in the surrounding oblast, including eight civilians waiting for a train at a village station.

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Well, my buddy's windows got entirely blown out, the supermarket across the street from him is mostly superstructure now, and the air outside stinks of fire. Our Russophobia isn't enough.

Kyiv's been targeted by about 15-20 missiles so far in the last half-hour. Local authorities report fires throughout the city. It's been a loud night.

I'm enough of a horror non-fan that I lasted only 15 minutes into the new SNW episode. Nope. I'm glad it's others people's thing, but it ain't mine.

The Poles are...uh... let's say not currently entirely predisposed to good feelings about us, their eastern cousins.

My advice for aspiring journalists/reporters/media types: don't. Don't go into this industry. It's a bad place filled with bad jobs working for bad people, and anything human you wanna do, you'll find yourself scraping poverty and constant anxiety.

Politics aside, do people believe city-run grocery stores with deeply discounted prices are a good POLICY idea? What are they intended to accomplish, in your view? What problem do they solve? Would you implement them if not running for election? I'm sincerely curious in people's answers here.

People ask me, 'Romeo, why can't an LLM autogenerate news?' The answer is context. Without prompting, an LLM does not 'know' the context behind any given event. And news reporting is literally explaining observations with context. It cannot know what is and is not relevant to include in a story.

People always seem taken aback when I correct their language about what an LLM is physically doing in the real world. The anthropomorphizing is a really worrying trend.
