Moon-Venus conjunction and Earthshine, by photographer Stefano Maraggi. Due to the Earth-Moon distance only a tiny fraction of the sunlight reflected by Earth reaches the lunar nightside, which reflects a tiny fraction back to Earth, appearing dimmer than the portion directly illuminated by the Sun.

The Heart Nebula, through an H-alpha filter. The emission nebula is mainly powered by ionizing UV radiation from young stars. After free electrons recombine with hydrogen ions, the most commonly emitted visible photons after electron transitions are at 656 nm (H-alpha). Image Credits: Rick Wiggins

Octopi camouflage to hunt, avoid predation and more. They use muscles to control chromatophores' pigment sacs, to display different colors and brightness. They also use muscles to change their body shape and to control papillae to alter skin texture. Video Credits: oceanlife us

This is table salt magnified and processed under an electron microscope. At the atomic level the arrangement of sodium cations and chloride anions is mostly regular and symmetric, forming a particularly stable crystal lattice structure governed by the electrostatic force.

Velox is a robot capable of swimming through water and crawling over ice, snow, sand and other grounds using a coordinated system of actuators powering soft, undulating fins, granting biomimetic properties reminiscent of the animal kingdom. Video Credit: Pliant Energy Systems

What you see in the echocardiography is a cardiac myxoma, a rare noncancerous tumor and the most common noncancerous primary heart tumor, usually found in the left atrium emerging from the left side of the atrial septum.

Barnard 68 is a dark absorption nebula with a high concentration of molecular hydrogen and interstellar dust grains. The region is so thick with dust that visible light from background stars is efficiently absorbed, making it opaque at visible wavelenghts. Image Credit: ESO
