While waiting for parts I ordered from Schacht 3 weeks ago to arrive, I started playing with my newest loom. Side note: how many patterns do you think were created from "whoops I didn't mean to do that, but don't want to undo..." #tabletweaving #inkleloom #shoelaces #bandweaving

Every time I see the transformation that happens after wet finish, I'm amazed again by the magic of weaving. Those plain weave sections between the twill get an amazing texture and visual boost after wet finishing and drying. Now it just needs a hem. #loftyfibersophisticatedblanket #multishaft
I'd planned to twist the fringe on this, but my fringe twister isn't in any of logical (or illogical) places I've looked. So trimmed the ends and into washer it goes for wet finishing. I fully expect to find my fringe twister in a random place in the next couple hours, now. #weaving #multishaft
Almost done! 18 inches more to go. I've been treating each project on this loom as a new lesson, and I definitely learned a few things with this one. I'll give front-to-back one more try before saying "never again", but next up will be a runner on my rigid heddle. #weaving #multishaft
And so we weave! I tested 3 boat shuttles hoping one with a 6" bobbin would help with speed. The one I HOPED would win is too heavy/wide/tall for my loom-with-no-race. My second option is 3D printed and too light. And the last is a no. So back to my original. Trial and Fail? #weaving #multishaft
After what feels like a lifetime, just need to tie on to the front beam and I can finally test the full width of the loom. Not sure if warping front-to-back saved me any time, except in correcting the "whoops I need 5 more strands" problem. #weaving #multishaft #loftyfibersophisticatedblanket
This project continually humbles and frustrates me. I'm somehow short 5 gray strands from right here. I have skipped sleying strands through the reed. I have doubled strands in the reed. I have forgotten to reverse sections. And now I need to make space for 5 strands. Undoing...again. #weaving
I've encountered a slight problem with my plan to swap mattresses around in my house this afternoon. #cats #queenofthehill #sisters
Trying front-to-back warping for the first time, to see if I like it better. Got the entire 42" warp sleyed....and then see 3 threads hanging down on this side of the reed, about 20 inches in. "This doesn't happen when I warp BTF," I grumble. #weaving #multishaft #loftyfibersophisticatedblanket
Incredibly pleased with how this warp looks, at least at this stage. The blue is the pop of color I was wanting! Now on to the next stage, and I can only cross my fingers it keeps making me smile. #weaving #handdyedyarn #warped
Ice dyeing adventures! Neither turned out quite how I expected, but in a stunning twist of "that worked out well", both still coordinate with the bulk of the warp! Used Silver Lining, Seafoam, Peacock Blue, and Cayman Island Green on natural. #weaving #handdyedyarn #fiberreactivedyes #icedyeing
After slowly collecting various pieces of equipment for dying cotton yarn...I have my first experiment going. This whole patience part of it is going to cause me great distress! (Ice dying one section of warp, and then "in the muck"-ing another. Or possibly just dying 250 yds of yarn.)
Lessons were learned, but I count this bandweaving adventure a success! I have just under a yard of usable band, which is enough for these towels. This feels like a good use of that loom frame, as it's not very useful for much else. #bandweaving #weaving #notaninkle
Finally found a use for my 8" SampleIt Ashford loom! (This size is no longer in production.) I wanted hanging tags for the new towels, but I don't have a bandweaving set up. So.... one modified box loom. Testing the waters to see if I "need" an Inkle loom. #weaving #bandweaving #rigidheddle
These are ready for their first bath! They grow up so fast... 5 different treadlings, same threading and tie ups. I'd originally planned on changing the tie ups, but instead played around with treadling patterns in WeaveIt. #weaving #multishaft #twills
The bobbin winder from FiberArtist Supply Co is so so smooth. I have one of those drill inserts that I've been using, but my hand cramps if I did more than 2 spindles in a row. Looked for DIY fixes...and saw a side note on this bobbin winder. Very happy with my upgrade! #weaving #fibersupplies
I had to undo so many rows with this yellow, trying to remember where I had left off the previous time I worked on it. (Doesn't help I tend to weave at night to wind down, so low light...) I sat down tonight and finished the last 18 inches, so I could move past this one. #weaving #multishaft
I'm not sure where she was going.... and I probably shouldn't have stopped to grab a picture. #weaving #multishaft #cats
First Cayenne, second Orange...and now Brick! Same tie-ups, different treadlings for each at this point. Newest treadling can be seen in hwnet#63236. (I'll be crawling under the loom for a new tie-up after this one.) #weaving #multishaft
Ugh. Just enough yarn in the bobbin to finish the last few picks...but not enough yarn in the bobbin to finish the hemstitch as well. Unweaving a few rows and swapping in a new bobbin, so my hemstitch is secure. (No idea if necessary, but seems logical at least.) #weaving #multishaft #hwnet87799
Cat #1: It's 6:55am! Your alarm will go off in 5 minutes so you can get us breakfast! Cat #2: It's 4pm! Let me trip you for the next 60-90 minutes so you know that I know that it's almost dinner time! They stay in sync, with the exception of feeding time notification #cats
On to Towel #2! Same tie-ups, different treadling (hw#57799 vs. hw#57800). Also switched from Cayenne to some version of Orange from Maurice Brassard for the weft. (Yarn purchased on sale with no color number attached, just called "orange".) #weaving #multishaft
Literally at the halfway point of this towel (finished repeat 4 of 8). Do I undo 14 picks to fix my pattern error? Or do I duplicate the error in repeat 5 and then return to the pattern? (It's missing 6 rows...) Sigh. Trying to decide how much it hurts my brain. #weaving #multishaft #hwnet57800
Treadles 1 & 2 still suck to use (too close to the pivot point so require extra force for a decent shed), but luckily I only need them for 30 picks at the start and end of each towel. Currently planning a set of 5 towels with different treadling/tie-ups. #weaving #multishaft #hwnet57800
Winding, interrupted - what happens when you take a moment to answer a phone call while winding your warp. I suppose she thinks this is only fair, as the warp board is resting on her recent preferred bed. #warpboard #weaving #cats
So. Figured out how to use a boat shuttle. Also learned my PPI is completely different for boat vs stick. Same number of rows, but you can 100% tell where I switched mid-project. Also, I need to work on my selvedges with boat shuttles. (And these colors should not have been mixed.) #weaving
As I finish up these towels, I now have to figure out a tweak for the brake before my next project. The brake release pedal doesn't put enough pressure on the brake to fully release right now... so I actually end up pulling the warp beam out of the frame on one side. #weaving #multishaft
I've played bobbin roulette with my sewing machine, but somehow shuttle roulette feels more satisfying! Just enough left to hemstitch this towel, and then reload for towel #2. Oh! And I've discovered I just hate ONE of my boat shuttles. So I'll retire the stick shuttles for towel #2. #weaving
